"Did you just come out of that town too?"

Hearing the sound from next door, Edward, who was still a little hazy, turned his head slightly, only to find that a man in his fifties had appeared next door at some point, sitting on the bed and staring at him quietly.

"Yes, I just came out of that town." Edward nodded, stretched out his hand to pinch the center of his eyebrows, and looked at his watch, but found that it was only half an hour later. He couldn't help but stand up and looked at the man with a smile: "  Did you escape from there too?"

"No, I was just passing by."

The man in his fifties raised his lips with a trace of disdain. He glanced out the window in the direction of the town, shook his wrist twice, turned to look at Edward and said slowly: "With those things, how can you let me escape?"

Edward shrugged. The man in front of him in his fifties could be considered an old man. Although he had white hair, he was very energetic and capable. He was wearing a white researcher's work uniform and even wore the same belt on his chest as the one outside.  The same identity tag as everyone else.

¡°Are you the virus prevention and control staff here?¡±

Looking at the mark on the identity card, Edward couldn't help but smile, raised his chin and pointed to the surrounding isolation observation rooms: "Is it to better observe the infected?"

"No, the reason why I came here is because I may also be infected." The old man shook his head and gently raised his left hand. There was a bandage wrapped around the palm of the hand, but it still couldn't stop the blood red from overflowing: "They were beaten by those people  The madman's fruit knife just pierced his palm."

    "That should be okay."

Edward tilted his head, looked at the old man's calm expression and comforted him: "The weapons in the hands of those virus-infected people should not have many viruses. Judging from your mental state, you should be in good condition."

"Good?" The old man smiled, shook his right hand, and asked: "I didn't even pull it out, so I just used the fruit knife inserted into my left hand and inserted it into the madman's eyeball.  , the dark blood has already contaminated my wound."

Seeing Edward's slightly stunned expression, the old man touched his left hand to make the bandage stronger. With a certain sadness on his face, he whispered softly as if talking to himself: "What if this thing works?"  Woolen cloth¡"

"What role does it play?" Edward raised his head slightly and looked at the old man who seemed to be deep in thought. He couldn't help but raise his eyebrows and asked: "By the way, that thing was made by the Umbrella Company. It can't be some powerful biochemical weapon."  Weapons, right?¡±

"Biological and chemical weapons? This is simply an insult to it!"

When the old man heard Edward's words, he suddenly raised his old head and looked at him, like a proud old rooster. He glared at him with a certain disdain on his face: "How can biological and chemical weapons be compared with mine?"  Compared with hard work!"

The corners of Edward's eyes twitched slightly: "Your hard work?!" He sat up straight, tilted his stiff neck, stared at the old man closely, and asked slowly: "What did you say just now?"

"No, I didn't say anything!" The old man seemed to realize his slip of the tongue, and immediately turned sideways, looking away, and denied: "You heard wrong, I just said that biological and chemical weapons are not that powerful.  !¡±

"Then what's going on with your hard work?"

Edward narrowed his eyes slightly and looked straight at the old man. His tone was a bit unkind. He stood up gently and walked to the separated fence: "Please don't doubt it. My young brain told my young ears that I heard wrongly.  !¡±

"I didn't say anything, I didn't say anything!" The old man suddenly stood up as if he had been injected with blood. He also faced Edward, glaring his eyes and waving his hands angrily, appearing extremely excited: "Don't ask me, I  Nothing said! Nothing done!"

There were not many people in the isolation room. At least on this floor, except for the person lying on the wall at the edge, there were only Edward and the old man next door.

"What is the hard work you are talking about?"

Edward paused, with a sarcastic smile on his lips. He looked at the old man facing him: "The town has a permanent population of 2,000 and a floating population of 3,000. Do you know how many are left now?"

"That's not my original intention!" The old man in front of him became even more furious. He clenched his dry fists, straightened his neck and looked at Edward with bloodshot eyes, breathing heavily: "That was not my original intention.  ! I never thought it would cause that!"

"But what about the consequences?" The sarcasm on Edward's face became more and more obvious. Even if the old man in front of him appeared here now, according to his words, it was obviously closely related to this virus leak incident.  .

Even virus researchers are??This seemingly downtrodden old man in front of me!

"Oh, no, that's not my intention" The old man's furious expression slowly calmed down. He no longer met Edward's eyes. With a certain sadness on his face, he gently squatted holding the iron fence.  He went down, with a kind of choke in his voice: "I developed it, but my original intention was not like this"

"A new biochemical weapon?" Edward took a slight breath. He looked at the old man who was lying on the ground holding his head. There was not much obvious pity in his eyes: "Paralyze the target's hematopoietic function, and the virus gradually replaces the blood, stimulating the organs and brain.  , to cause some kind of aimless bloodthirsty activity.¡±

"You said what I said, right? Mr. its researcher." Movies in previous lives have already explained the special effects of this virus. Combined with the viral infections in this world, Edward said with ridicule: "It is indeed a kind of  An effective and powerful biological weapon."

"It's not a biological weapon! Absolutely not!"

The old man raised his head and looked at Edward with his head straight, as if he was holding on to his lost dignity. However, he quickly lowered his head and showed a sad smile: "Yes, now it is the same as biochemistry."  The weapons are exactly the same"

"But I said it is a gene enhancement drug, do you believe it?" He raised his head again, looked at Edward and asked slowly, with some hope in his eyes, he stretched out his hand tremblingly: "It can make human beings  The physique is as powerful as those aliens¡¯ genetic enhancement drugs!¡±

"But now this drug has a good effect, and it is exactly the same as the manic biochemical weapon"

Edward did not continue to press, because looking at the old man's current state, he knew that he had reached a moderate situation. The old man, who was already mentally unstable, now had his psychological defenses completely destroyed.

"This is just a side effect, and its real function should be to enhance the body's strength, rapidly increase the regeneration rate of cells and hematopoietic function"

In the pride of a scientist, the old man is still unwilling to admit his failure. There are already many biochemical weapons. He does not want to be called the cursed father of biochemical weapons, but enjoys the glory of being the main developer of human genetic enhancement drugs.  .

"But what happened to that plane?" Edward sat on the bed, his heart heavy. If this accident is not controlled well, it will cause a frightening disaster, and even human society will be shaken!

"I am also investigating an accident." The old man shook his head slightly, smiled bitterly, glanced at Edward, lowered his head and said softly: "I originally wanted to send it to the Mars Research Institute, but maybe you don't believe it,  But it was indeed an accident"

"This accident is really serious" Edward raised the corner of his mouth with a trace of disdain, looking at the blue sky, but there was a slight gray-black color on the edge in the distance, which was the direction of the town.

"I didn't expect that the gene fragments extracted from that kind of organism would have such powerful erosion and assimilation effects, and also have the aggressiveness to penetrate deeply into the genes."

The old man buried his head in his legs and looked into Edward's eyes with a certain sadness: "The concealment of that gene deceived me. I didn't expect that three years of research would eventually lead to such a terrifying situation.  Effect."

"Is there no remedy?" Edward asked. The destructive nature of this virus is that it penetrates directly into the human brain. But does the characteristic of the virus destroy the brain and only turn humans into bloody butchers and executioners?

If it is not stopped, the impact on the entire earth will be very serious!  Edward didn't want to imagine that tragic scenario.

"So I came to see if there is any way to remedy it" The old man shook his head and slowly raised his left hand. The dark red blood was extremely conspicuous on the white bandage: "And this is probably a kind of revenge on me.  Bar¡"

    "Crash"

The sound of keys suddenly came from outside. Edward and the old man turned their heads. An Earth Federation soldier opened the door of the observation room and led two men in suits with sunglasses in. The emblem of the Umbrella Company on the right chest was extremely conspicuous.

"Doctor, you can come with us, this is not the place for you to stay."

One of the men in a suit glanced at the surrounding situation, frowned slightly and waved his hand in front of his nose, looking very dissatisfied. He turned to the soldier and said unceremoniously: "Are you going to let us, the Umbrella Company,  Is one of the most important doctors staying in such a humble room?"

Seeing the soldier opening the door to the old man's room, the man in a suit had a slight smile on his face. However, when he saw the bandage on the old man's left hand, he paused slightly when he wanted to walk over: "Doctor,  Are you injured?"

?"It's a small injury. I need suppressive medicine." The old man stood up slowly, nodded apologetically to Edward, turned his head and looked at the face of the man in the suit, but his face was expressionless, and he just said lightly: "If there is no problem, send it to me."  I¡¯m going to my institute.¡±

"Oh, of course!" The man in the suit looked at the old man's left hand with fear, waved his hand and ordered the subordinate behind him: "Go and support the doctor! That is a senior talent of our umbrella company!"

"Go away!" The old man didn't give any face to the two men in suits. He walked out of the door and shook his right hand slightly. He turned to look at Edward and said in a sincere tone: "Believe me, I will give the town a  Explain!" (To be continued.
