The smoke of gunpowder was still filling the air, and the strong smell of gunpowder made it difficult to breathe. Edward loosened a button on his collar, sat on the hill that had been heated by heavy machine guns, and took a heavy breath.

¡°Our injured personnel were only hit by a few bullets, not heavy machine gun bullets, so there were no very fatal wounds.¡±

There was some dirt on Jessica's pretty face. She reached out and wiped it a few times, but the black marks were more obvious. Looking at the entire hill that was almost a few centimeters soft after being hit by the heavy machine gun, she shook slightly.  Shaking his head: "If we weren't equipped with mortars, this battle would have been extremely harsh."

Twenty DX expeditions of military infantry, with each of the three suspended armor with four very heavy machine guns, a total of the a total of twelve -very heavy machine guns, is simply the firepower to strengthen the continuous level configuration.

But even so, if the soldiers do not have the magical breathing skill in the "Call of Duty" series, that is, after being injured, they can recover their blood volume and muscle tissue with heavy breaths, then even an ordinary shot will have no impact on the human body.  Also powerful damage.

    ¡°Zero casualties, that¡¯s not bad.¡±

Looking at the smaller rocks, which were even turned into gravel by heavy machine gun bullets, Edward couldn't help but feel scared. Fortunately, there are many hills and rocks in the area on the edge of Los Angeles. Otherwise, if he encounters those DX enemies in the wilderness, he will be afraid.  It's really the end of the whole army being annihilated.

However, looking at the corpses of the DX expeditionary force and the remains of the suspended armor at the bottom of the hill, Edward spat hard, looked at the few soldiers who were preparing to clean the battlefield and said loudly: "Leave them alone!"

Those DX expeditionary force infantry are not of much value, and there may be something underneath those bodies wrapped in metal suits. At least Edward doesn't want to see the disgusting alien corpses, but what's more important is the enemy's reinforcements.  It was not something that Edward could continue to contend with.

This counterattack with mortars only destroyed one-third of the enemy's troops. Edward did not believe that he would be lucky enough to use this simple mechanized infantry platoon to compete with the opponent's armored forces.  .

"That is already a company-level armored force, and it is the elite among them."

Jessica curled her lips and said: "These are really life-threatening." Combined with the DX Expeditionary Force infantry on both sides of the road as well as the suspended armor, although there is no difference, the density of the gathering is not so high.

On both sides of the road when we came, although there were DX expeditionary forces deployed, most of them were DX infantry. As for floating armor, it was actually rare. Basically, there was only one heavy machine gun suspended armor for every thirty or so infantry.

"Elite armored troops?" Edward touched the stubble on his chin, looked coldly at the black spot at the end of the road that could no longer be seen clearly, stood up, waved and pointed at the village a few miles away and said, "Go there!"

The power of the armored forces is like that of ancient heavy cavalry. Even the fortified city that the ancient cavalry could do nothing about is also a toy that can be destroyed easily. With a large number of artillery, missiles and heavy firepower, they are not afraid of the guards of the fortified city.  strength.

But if you encounter such a group of armored troops on the plains, the consequences will be more painful than in the city.  At least relying on a solid defense can delay one's own demise, even counterattack, and even have a certain chance of victory!

However, in flat areas, the strong armor is enough to withstand any small-caliber bullets. Even heavy machine gun bullets are not afraid. As long as it is as violent as a bursting flood, any enemy will be swept in and become a pile of scrap metal or wreckage.  .

"We also need armored forces, but at least now we have to have a strong fortress!"

Looking at the village in front of him, Edward took a breath slowly. The city of Los Angeles is now complicated, and a large number of alien enemies have actually attacked the human mainland. This is simply unbelievable to him, because SHIELD has control over the Sky World.  But he has never been so weak.

"There are unlimited building materials in the system. With your existing hundreds of thousands of points, General, you can completely transform that small village into a simple military fortress."

Slightly twisting her neck, Jessica shook off the dust from her body with some discomfort. As the military off-road vehicle rushed forward quickly, the entrance to the small village gradually appeared in front of them.

The size of the small village is not large. It looks like there are only more than a hundred households. The houses are well planned and arranged along the cross-shaped streets. They are surrounded by large farms with irrigation canals distributed among them, nourishing the water.  Barley in its seedling stage.

    "No enemy found!"

An armed pickup truck slowly drove along the street into the small village, but there was no movement in the entire village.?Men, women, old and young, even common animals such as cats and dogs, could not see any of them.

The five Marines jumped off the pickup truck and carefully looked at the entire village. They pointed the G3-A4 assault rifle at several surrounding houses and slowly dispersed, preparing to arm the heavy machine gun on the pickup truck.  Enter it and search it.

"Forward!" Looking at the village entrance in front, Edward frowned slightly and waved forward slowly. The remaining three armed pickup trucks drove forward, while the Marines were scattered around the convoy, bending slightly under the cover of the armed pickup trucks.  Enter gradually.

"Are you escaping the war?" Jessica frowned slightly. The small MP5-A3 submachine gun was pressed tightly between her plump breasts. Her beautiful big eyes looked around with a vigilant look: "Be careful here.  Enemy occupied.¡±

    ¡°It¡¯s unlikely, there¡¯s nothing important here.¡±

Edward shook his head. There were countless small villages around Los Angeles. There were several of them almost every few kilometers. Although they produced crops, most of them were private farm-type estates.

Especially the small village in front of us is just a road adjacent to it. To be honest, I don¡¯t know how many there are on both sides of the road. Just by looking at the small village in front of me, it may not be occupied by the DX alien expeditionary force.

"The interior decoration is intact, the furniture and appliances are still there, and food and other items are still there, but there are no citizens living there."

He entered a house cautiously, with two rangers holding AKS-74u submachine guns walking in front. However, Edward slowly stood still and shook his head slightly as he looked at the somewhat messy but basically intact interior decoration.

If there were some attacks, there would obviously be traces of battle left behind. At least some of the fragile furniture would not be in such good condition. Edward would even feel as if he had gone out in an emergency in these houses!

"No enemies were foundand no citizens were found." On the intercom, the voice of the soldier responsible for searching other houses rang. All the forty-odd personnel began to report. As the search continued, no one was found.

"Be careful, it's very weird here!"

Levsky, who was holding an AK-M assault rifle, said slowly. He walked out of a house. This was the fifth house he was responsible for searching, but let alone humans, even pets that Americans like to keep.  , not even one.

"No, it's really weird." Kratos also nodded, and all the soldiers around him came out and lined up in the square in the middle of the village. The entire village had been searched, and no one was present.

But it is this reason that makes everyone worried. If they leave just because of the war, how can they all evacuate?  Moreover, throwing away certain precious items is simply something that no human being can do.

"Now that they are all gone, we have saved some energy."

Sitting on the stone stairs in the square, Edward frowned tightly and looked at the empty houses around him. He couldn't help but stand up and nodded slightly: "Then transform this village into a war fortress to defend against certain enemies."

Among the tasks given by S.H.I.E.L.D., there is indeed a defensive task. Although this place is far away from Los Angeles, it is also a suburb, so it is just right to complete this task. Moreover, it is only thirty minutes away from the Violet Orphanage.  The distance can be directly supported.

"In this case, then exchange it for a large amount of construction materials."

Looking at the mostly wooden houses in the small village, Edward shook his head slightly, first pointed at the dozen or so houses in the south and said: "Let's transform that side first. At least we must have a simple defensive position."

"But it is better to demolish these wooden houses than to leave them and renovate them." Levsky stepped forward slightly, pointed to the wooden houses not far away, and reminded: "Sir, these things cannot stop the enemy.  The heavy machine gun, on the contrary, blocks our sight."

Others nodded, and Kratos agreed: "Yes, these wooden houses are basically very fragile. Compared with concrete and other materials, I suggest they be demolished and rebuilt for defense."

"Then let's build the fortifications first."

Edward finally decided that at least the enemy's armored forces must be blocked. If there are not several permanent bunkers for defense, it will definitely not be able to effectively counterattack: "Construct near the highway, at least two permanent bunkers."

After a pause, Edward looked at the relatively gentle terrain around him, frowned and said, "Build fortifications as soon as possible, otherwise we won't have much defensive advantage in the face of the enemy's attack."

If you want a strong defenseFor armored forces, permanent anti-tank bunkers are the best choice, and concrete walls up to two meters thick mixed with steel plates can even easily defend against the bombardment of certain small-caliber artillery and even tank main guns.

"Understood!" All the soldiers replied loudly. The next battle will be fierce, especially when there will be head-on firefights with other enemies, and stronger defenses will be needed.  (To be continued.
