(Thanks to book friends Prancing Horse Tianshan and Xiaozhe Lee for their monthly passes!)

Noisy sounds came from across the street, and the soldiers of the 3rd Company and 3rd Platoon of the 4th Battalion, 5th Brigade of the Chinese Marine Corps who were responsible for the defense suddenly became alert.  Heavy machine guns and light machine guns were aimed at the opposite side, and the rifles in the hands of the soldiers were loaded with bullets.

Fifty meters in front of the barricade, Chinese Marine Corps soldiers deliberately lit two bonfires to illuminate the street.  In this way, there is no need to worry about being attacked by Filipino natives.

Soon, those ragged Filipino natives appeared in front of the soldiers in the third row.  The ferocious smiles on their faces and the crude weapons in their hands were all clearly visible.

"Warn them not to advance any further, otherwise they will be shot to death!" Platoon leader Peng Yong said to a young man of 17 or 18 years old next to him.  His name is Li Yun, he is a local Chinese in Manila, he is proficient in Filipino, and he was specially sent here as a temporary translator.

¡°Martial law has been imposed here, stop advancing, otherwise we will kill without mercy!¡± Li Yun stood up and shouted loudly in Filipino.

"Bang!" Suddenly, a crisp gunshot like fried beans rang out in the silent street.  The moment the fire flashed, Peng Yong, the platoon leader of the 3rd platoon, immediately threw Li Yun, who had stood up, to the ground. The bullets flew past their scalps, frightening Peng Yong, a veteran.

"What a fool! Fire, don't let anyone go!" He pointed the pistol in his hand at a native who was rushing forward, knocked him to the ground with one shot, and ordered fiercely at the same time.

"Click! Bang! Bang! Bang!" The heavy machine guns, light machine guns and rifles in the hands of the Chinese Marine Corps soldiers all started shooting. Tongues of flames surged out, killing the Filipino natives who were rushing forward.  All knocked to the ground.  These Filipino natives were basically just a bunch of rioters who had not received any military training. They just relied on the encouragement of the guys behind them to move forward with their heads lowered.  When they launched riots in the past, the Spaniards also intercepted them in this way.  However, once they break through the defense, the Spaniards will have no choice but to die.  As for the price they will pay for this, they don't care at all, as if the lives of their compatriots are not valuable at all.

"Come on! Charge on me! If we break through the Chinese defense lines, we will win. The wealth in the city and those beautiful Chinese girls will be ours!" Kanu hid behind and shouted loudly.

Those Katipunan members also shouted, making these Filipino natives howl in excitement, like wild wolves.  Their eyes were reddened by wealth and beauty, and like wild beasts, they rushed towards the position of the Chinese Marine Corps desperately.

"Hold on! Don't treat these Filipino natives as humans, treat them as beasts, kill them all. Think about it, if we retreat, how many brothers and sisters in Manila will suffer! No matter what, we will  Hold the line of defense, if these Filipino natives want to rush into the city, they have to step over our corpses!" Peng Yong, the 3rd platoon leader, shouted loudly.  The 5th Marine Corps Brigade has not been established for a long time. Apart from training, it has not been on the battlefield.  Therefore, many people felt a little nervous when they saw these densely packed Filipino natives rushing towards them without fear of death.  This nervousness makes it impossible to be accurate.

Fortunately, a barbed wire fence was pulled up in front of their position.  These Filipino natives needed to destroy the barbed wire fence before they could attack the Chinese soldiers' positions.  However, these Filipino natives do not have professional tools. It is not easy to destroy these tough barbed wires with just the hatchets and farm tools in their hands.  In the process of their crazy chopping, they had been sieved by bullets from the squadron.

"Boom! Boom!" The 60mm-caliber mortar in the third row also started shelling.  One after another, the shells fell into the Filipino natives, and the shrapnel flew in all directions, harvesting the lives of these Filipino natives wantonly.

This is not a battle at all, but a massacre.  On one side are the Chinese Marines who are armed to the teeth, and on the other side are the Filipino natives with extremely poor equipment. The two sides are not equal at all.  Soon, a thick layer of corpses of Filipino natives was piled up in front of the 3rd Platoon position.

Such fighting broke out not only on Richter Street, but also on the streets leading from the slums in the south of the city to the central city. Fierce fighting, or to be more accurate, a massacre.  These Filipino natives attacked the barricades defended by the Chinese army.  However, in front of the well-prepared squadron, apart from leaving corpses on the ground, they did not get anything good at all.

At the same time, violence also occurred among indigenous Filipinos in other areas of Manila.  Armed with weapons, they walked out of their homes and headed to the place where they were staying. They would rob nearby Chinese shops or residences.  In the past, they were able to achieve huge gains every time.  And as long as they didn't rob the Spanish colonists, there would be no danger.  So, this time they once again rushed towards the streets where Chinese people lived.

However, this time they hit a wall.  On the streets, Chinese Marine Corps soldiers had been patrolling for a long time. As soon as they discovered these Filipino natives, the soldiers immediately opened fire.  One by one, the Filipino natives were knocked to the ground and ended their dirty lives.  In the Chinese shops and houses on both sides of the street, the Chinese who had heard the gunshots and were hiding in their homes fearfully were shocked to find that no vicious Filipino natives broke in.  Some people started opening their windows to see what was going on outside.  When they saw the Chinese army begin to massacre the Filipino natives who attempted to participate in the uprising, their eyes became red.  They had endured years of suffering and now it was finally over.  With the Empire's soldiers protecting their safety, what else do they have to worry about?  Some bold Chinese even brought weapons and joined in the killing of the Filipino natives.

The city of Manila has almost completely turned into a battlefield.  Although the Chinese team was well prepared, there were too many of these Filipino natives. After killing one, ten more appeared.  They used the crude weapons in their hands to attack the Chinese army.  Although they were completely using mantises as chariots, they were still fearless and fearless, attacking like moths to a flame until they were killed.

"Old Wu, how is the situation now? There are gunshots everywhere in the city!" Li Haitao asked.

"Chief of Staff, these Filipino natives are crazy. In just half an hour, at least tens of thousands of Filipino natives have died in our hands. However, they seem to have no fear and are still attacking us.  !" reported Wu Haibin, commander of the 5th Marine Corps Brigade.  In his opinion, these Filipino natives are simply impatient!

"Are our casualties high?" Li Haitao asked.

"Our casualties were not large. However, the fearless attack by the Filipino natives put a lot of pressure on the soldiers. Especially in the slums in the south of the city, there was only one battalion defending there. They encountered tens of thousands of Filipino natives  Attack!" Wu Haibin said with some worry.

"Deploy some troops under the direct command to go to the rescue! We can't have so many people protecting us here. In addition, I gave an order to the warships at sea to carry out indiscriminate bombardment on the south of the city!" Li Haitao said.

"Using warships for bombardment? What about those who did not participate in the violence?" Wu Haibin was stunned and then asked.

"So many Filipino natives participated in the riots. Are there still people in the city who did not participate in the riots? Even those who did not participate in the riots are their family members and they all deserve to die. Let the people of the fourth battalion stay in their positions  A fire is lit in front to provide guidance for the warship!" Li Haitao said.

"Yes, Chief of Staff!" Wu Haibin immediately went down and gave the order.

At this moment, the battle on Rickett Street was at its most intense. There was already a thick layer of corpses on the street, and the blood of the Filipino natives had gathered into the stream.  However, they were still fearless and launched an attack on the Chinese Army with the instigation of the Katipunan organization.  The fierce fighting caused the 3rd platoon to lose a lot of ammunition.  The soldiers no longer knew how many people had been killed. They were just mechanically pulling the triggers now.  Until now, several soldiers in the 3rd platoon have been injured by the cold guns of these Filipino natives, which made Peng Yong very angry.

"Platoon commander! The company commander ordered us to light a big fire!" the signal soldier reported to Peng Yong.

"What kind of fire should you light? Didn't you see that I'm busy now?" Peng Yong said dissatisfied.  He was holding a light machine gun and was firing at the Filipino natives who were charging wildly.  As soon as the shuttle went down, several Filipino natives fell to the ground.

"The company commander asked us to provide guidance to the warships, and the warships are preparing to bombard these Filipino natives!" the signal corpsman said.

"What? The warship is about to fire! Come here, set fire to the houses on both sides of the street. Let the brothers on the warship pay attention and don't miss it!" Peng Yong returned the machine gun to the original machine gunner and ordered loudly.  .

Soon, the houses of indigenous Filipinos on both sides of the street were doused with kerosene.  After a torch was thrown up, the whole house burst into flames.

The Chinese Navy warships waiting in Manila Bay immediately became busy after seeing the flames soaring into the sky.

"Aim two hundred meters behind the fire and fire, let these Filipino natives know how powerful we are. Don't miss, otherwise those bastards of the Marine Corps will be dead!" The heavy cruiser "Xi'an"  The captain ordered.  AlreadyHaving beaten the ship's hull, the ships, which were well prepared, began bombarding one after another.
