"In addition, how is the construction of our overseas naval bases going?" Wang Yuze asked.  Today's naval warships generally have low endurance, which requires the fleet to be equipped with a certain number of transport ships when going to sea.  The speed of transport ships is relatively slow, which seriously affects the overall combat efficiency of the fleet.  Building a large number of bases overseas can replenish the fleet with coal, water, oil, ammunition and other living supplies at any time, which will help improve the overall combat strength of the navy.

"Your Majesty, we have already built military bases in Naha, Ryukyu, and Osumi Islands in the north. In the Philippines we have just occupied, Subic Bay is more suitable for establishing a military port. The Navy Ministry plans to build a large military port in Subic Bay to facilitate our country.  The navy controls the entire South China Sea. In addition, docks and supply stations for warships will be established at the Guam base and the Mariana Islands. In this way, our warships can effectively patrol the Pacific waters between Hawaii and the mainland.  !" Zhang Cheng replied.

Wang Yuze nodded.  China has established military bases in Hawaii, the Mariana Islands, Guam, the Philippines, and the Ryukyus, which will help China strengthen its control over the Pacific.  In this case, if other countries want to pose a threat to China, they must first break through China's bases in these places.  Except, of course, Japan.  Japan and China are too close to each other to allow others to sleep on the other side of the bed. The Far East can only allow one great country to rise.  Therefore, China must defeat Japan.

Wang Yuze stayed at the Beihai Navy Port for a few days, inspecting the construction progress of the shipyard, and also inspected the economic development of Guangxi.  Although the mountainous Guangxi is still very poor, generally speaking, it is developing relatively rapidly.  With the initial completion of the transportation network in the north, a large amount of infrastructure construction will be tilted to the south. By then, the development of the southern provinces will naturally be able to reach a higher level.  At least, during Wang Yuze's inspection, he could hear the gratitude of the people for the empire everywhere he went.  This gave him some comfort in his originally tired state of mind.

In early December, Wang Yuze returned to Beijing.  Although the New Year is approaching, the whole country is still running at high speed.  Everyone knows that war is likely to start next year, and we must take advantage of the present time to prepare for war. This is a top priority, and we cannot be careless in the slightest.  With the cooperation of the Ministry of Supervision, the Ministry of Personnel and the Department of Homeland Security, more and more corrupt officials have been sentenced, and in severe cases, they have even been directly shot. This has greatly frightened other officials and accelerated the pace of war preparations.

On the afternoon of December 4, Wang Yuze was in his study dealing with the documents that had accumulated during this period. Wu Hao, the captain of the bodyguard, came in and reported: "Your Majesty, Director Wei of the Military Intelligence Bureau wants to see you!"

"Xuan!" Wang Yuze said.  Now, the military intelligence agency and the Department of Homeland Security have completed the handover.  The Military Intelligence Bureau has basically handed over all domestic affairs to the Department of Homeland Security, which allows the Military Intelligence Bureau led by Wei Zhiyong to spend more time abroad.  It also makes it easier for China to obtain foreign intelligence.

"Your Majesty, Wei Zhiyong, is here to see you!" Wei Zhiyong, director of the Military Intelligence Bureau, immediately saluted Wang Yuze after entering the study.

"Sit down! Director Wei, are you getting used to the work during this time?" Wang Yuze asked.  After all, after the domestic affairs of the Military Intelligence Bureau were handed over, the power of the Military Intelligence Bureau was greatly reduced. He was really afraid that Wei Zhiyong would have some knots in his heart. This would be detrimental to the stability of the empire.  Wei Zhiyong has been the director of the Military Intelligence Bureau for several years, but he has made great contributions.  When Wang Yuze was assassinated, it was thanks to the Military Intelligence Agency that they caught the murderer.

"Your Majesty, there is nothing uncomfortable. Now I can concentrate on deploying overseas intelligence networks, which is also very beneficial to the empire!" Wei Zhiyong said calmly.

Ye Yan was very pleased to see that Wei Zhiyong's performance did not look like he was cheating.

"So, what happened this time?" Wang Yuze asked.

"Your Majesty, this is the case. Our intelligence agents stationed in South Africa sent back news that the Boers want to buy a batch of arms from us!" Wei Zhiyong said.

"Boers? What? Are they going to fight the British again?" Wang Yuze was quite surprised.  Now, the war between China and the Pacific Alliance is imminent. If the Boers can fight with the British, the British energy will be restrained. This is undoubtedly very good news for China.

The Boers refer to the mixed ethnic group formed by the descendants of white immigrants from the Netherlands, France and Germany living in South Africa.  In 1652, the first group of Dutch immigrants arrived and settled at the Cape of Good Hope in southern Africa.  In 1795 and 1806, Britain occupied the Cape Colony twice.  At the Vienna Peace Conference from 1814 to 1815, Britain acquired the Netherlands from the Netherlands for 6 million pounds.?Bought the Cape of Good Hope area and began to rule it.  The Cape of Good Hope region is also known as the Cape.  In 1836, the Boers who were dissatisfied with British rule began to leave the Cape Colony en masse.  Vigilante commander Andres?  Pretorius established colonial areas such as the Republic of Lydenburg and the Republic of Wimburg in the northern interior.  These colonial areas merged in 1849 to establish the Republic of South Africa, also known as the Transvaal Republic.  Another group of Boers established the Republic of Natalia and the Republic of Orange Free State in its east and south.

In 1876, Governor Shepstone of the British Province of Natal went to the Transvaal Republic to lobby and persuade it to accept British rule.  Due to financial difficulties and facing large-scale conflict with the Zulu kingdom to the east, the Transvaal Republic accepted the demand for annexation to Britain.  In April 1877, the British issued a declaration that the Transvaal Republic became a British colony and appointed Lord Shepstone as its administrator.  Transvaal President Burgess resigns.

After the Zulu War in 1879, the British eliminated the Zulu Kingdom and removed the greatest threat facing the Boers.  During the three years when the British ruled the Transvaal Republic, they did not improve the living conditions of the middle- and lower-class Boers, nor did they increase investment or improve local financial, economic and political life. Instead, they allowed British businessmen to speculate in land and invest in  The Boers' repayment of taxes previously owed to the Transvaal Republic aroused widespread dissatisfaction among the Boer people.

On December 17, 1880, a conflict broke out between Boer citizens and the British garrison in Potchefstroom.  On December 20, two companies of the British 94th Regiment stationed in Lydenburg rushed to the aid of Pretoria and were ambushed by the Boer militia on the Bronkhorst Wadi. The first battle began.  As the Boers adopted guerrilla warfare tactics, during the battle, 77 of the 247 British troops were killed and 157 wounded, while only 2 of the Boer troops died and 4 were wounded.

In January 1881, reinforced British troops set off from the Natal colony and marched towards the Transvaal.  General Colley, commander of the British army, led this reinforcement force of more than a thousand men to march westward into the Transvaal.  It was blocked by General Joubert at Long Gap on the border between Natal and Transvaal.  93 British troops were killed, 133 wounded, and 54 captured. Colley himself was also shot dead on the top of the mountain.  Only one person from the Cloth Army was killed and five were injured.

On March 6, 1881, the British and Transvaal armies signed an armistice agreement, and on August 3, the two sides signed the "Pretoria Agreement."  The agreement stipulated that the Transvaal could be established as a fully autonomous government under the suzerainty of the British Queen, and Britain maintained three prerogatives: control of the Transvaal's external relations; control of the Transvaal's relations with African tribes;  During the war, the British army had the right to borrow Transvaal.  This was the first Boer War.

"Yes, Your Majesty! In 1884, prospecting experts discovered the world's largest Witwatersrand gold on a remote pasture between the city of Pretoria and the Vaal River in the Republic of Transvaal.  Mine. Johannesburg was subsequently built on this gold mine. Profits and taxes from the gold mines allowed the economy of the Transvaal Republic to develop rapidly, while also intensifying friction with the British. The British wanted to seize these gold mines.  , the Boers had no choice but to fight back. However, due to British pressure, the Boers were unable to obtain advanced weapons from Europe and had no choice but to turn to us!" Wei Zhiyong said.

"So? What weapons do they want to buy?" Wang Yuze asked.  When the Boers wanted to buy arms, Wang Yuze naturally wanted them.  Except for a small amount of equipment that was used as police equipment, most of the equipment that had been replaced was sealed.  If it can be sold, that would be great.

"The Boers want everything! Rifles, heavy machine guns, artillery, bullets, artillery shells, etc. They all hope to buy them from us!" Wei Zhiyong said.

"Okay, let your people contact the Boers. Tell them that we can sell them all the weapons they need. However, the transaction must be in cash. The Boers can directly choose to settle in gold. Of course, the price  It is 20% lower than the current gold price in the world!" Wang Yuze said with a smile.  There are a lot of gold and diamond mines in the south.  These Boers have made a lot of money digging these gold and diamond mines. Of course Wang Yuze will not let go of this opportunity to extort money.  On the one hand, it can dispose of the sealed equipment in exchange for funds. On the other hand, it can also arm the strength of these Boers. When the Boers and the British go to war in the future, it will be able to hold back the energy of the British. It can be said that it kills two birds with one stone.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I will contact the intelligence agent over there immediately. However, at what price will we sell our weapons to them?" Wei Zhiyong asked.

"Let's give them a 20% discount on our weapons! Although they are all old goods, there is no problem with their performance. Besides, European countries dare not sell them to them, so they can only buy them from us!" Wang Yuze smiled brightly.  .
