Santa Barbara is a city on the Pacific Coast of California, United States.  About 130 kilometers northwest of Los Angeles.  The Spanish built a fortress here in 1782 and it was once a Catholic missionary center.  The warm climate, lush subtropical plants, and streets with white walls and red tile buildings in the American pioneer era give the city a unique look.  However, after the Chinese army set off from Hawaii and was about to launch a landing strike on the west coast of the United States, the residents of Santa Barbara also quickly evacuated here.  Although not everyone has evacuated, the population living here has been reduced from more than 20,000 to less than 5,000.  Most of the remaining five thousand people were poor and had nowhere to go.  Others believe that a war between China and the United States will not cause any harm to civilians like them.

The U.S. Army has deployed a regiment in Santa Barbara, the 3rd Regiment of the 54th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, an infantry regiment with only more than 1,800 troops.  Moreover, this regiment has only been formed for less than three months, and most of the time, they have just learned how to shoot.  The entire regiment only possesses 8 75mm mountain guns, and only 11 heavy machine guns. As for the light machine guns, the US Army does not equip them.  In the world, only the Chinese Army is equipped with light machine guns on a large scale.

The regiment leader, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas, is only twenty-five years old, but he is a veteran with six years of military service.  However, three months ago, he was at least a captain and company commander.  But after the U.S. Army's crazy expansion, his company was directly expanded to a regiment, and he became a lieutenant colonel.  However, he himself could not tell how much fighting power this regiment had.

Garrisoned in Santa Barbara.  For the 3rd Regiment, 54th Infantry Division.  It's still a relatively good job.  Because it is relatively remote here.  Although there is a port, it is mostly used by fishermen and cannot accommodate large ships.  Therefore, no one in the whole group thought that the Chinese would land here.  In their view, the landing place chosen by the Chinese team must be a large city with a large port such as San Diego, Los Angeles or San Francisco.  As a result, Santa Barbara's defense looked a little lax.  Lieutenant Colonel Thomas reprimanded him several times.  But after it still didn't get better, it didn't matter anymore.  Anyway, he believes that Santa Barbara will not be targeted by the Chinese.

In addition, the headquarters of the 54th Infantry Division is located in Oxnard, fifty kilometers away from Santa Barbara.  The entire defense area of ??the 54th Infantry Division is a remote beach with many loopholes.

However, Los Angeles in the south is the key defense area of ??the U.S. Army.  Here, the U.S. Army concentrated one hundred thousand troops.  Commanded by Lieutenant General Samuel Young.  I have never seen thousands of cannons concentrated in Los Angeles.  A large number of mines were also laid in the port area to prevent the Chinese troops from landing.  A large number of bombs are also buried in the port facilities. Once they are lost, the port area can be destroyed to avoid being used by the squadron.  It can be said that Los Angeles' defense is impregnable.  If the Chinese ** team chooses to land here, I'm afraid they won't be able to get a good deal.

At 6 a.m., a large fleet escorted by the Chinese Navy¡¯s Pacific Fleet arrived off the coast of Santa Barbara.  The sky at this moment was already bright. Although it was not bright, you could already see the situation on the sea.  However, the appearance of a large number of Chinese fleets did not seem to be discovered by the US military.  The officers and soldiers of the 3rd Regiment of the 54th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army are still sleeping soundly at this moment!  Even the sentries on the beach were dozing with their guns in their arms, having long forgotten their mission.

"The battleship 'Qinghai', the battleship 'Hawaii', the heavy cruiser 'Chengdu', the heavy cruiser 'Chongqing', the heavy cruiser 'Kangding', the heavy cruiser 'Xining' and the heavy cruiser 'Wuhan', forward  Get to a position five kilometers away from the coast and prepare to carry out artillery strikes. The 3rd Marine Brigade, prepare for landing!" Admiral Li Dingxin, commander of the Navy's Pacific Fleet, as the supreme commander of this landing operation, issued the order.

Two battleships and five heavy cruisers began to sail towards the offshore Santa Barbara.  In addition, a transport ship carrying the 3rd Marine Brigade also followed.  After the artillery fire ends, the 3rd Marine Brigade will begin landing.  The three divisions of the Sixth Army behind them, the 11th, 12th and 42nd Divisions, will go ashore to expand their positions after the 3rd Marine Brigade successfully lands.

Private Barlow became the first American soldier to discover the squadron during this landing operation.  Every morning at 6:30, it¡¯s time to change the guard.  Today, it was his turn.  When he got up early in the morning and came to the beach holding a gun.  The sleepy eyes that were originally sleepy suddenly opened wide.  On the sea, the huge, hill-like steel ships and the densely packed ships made his sleepiness disappear without a trace.

"Oh God! Chinese warships! The Chinese actually chose this place to land!" Barlow shouted in horror.

"Hey! Guys, wake up quickly and call the regiment headquarters.Warning, the Chinese are calling!  "Barlow kicked the sentry on the beach hard.

"What happened?" the sentry on the beach asked, rubbing his eyes.  But then he was too horrified to speak.

"Boom!" A loud noise like thunder came from the sea, and orange-red flames flashed from the muzzle of the huge battleship on the sea.  A sharp whistle sounded, making people's eardrums feel as if they were about to burst.  Subsequently, violent explosions sounded in downtown Santa Barbara.

"Boom!" The shell exploded and burst into flames.  The house was easily destroyed in the explosion.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" Two battleships and five heavy cruisers of the Chinese Navy's Pacific Fleet anchored on the sea began to launch a fierce bombardment on Santa Barbara.  High-explosive bombs hit Santa Barbara one after another, and within a few minutes, the place became a sea of ??fire.  Private Barlow and the sentry on the beach were already frightened.

The officers and soldiers of the 3rd Regiment of the 54th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, as well as the residents of Santa Barbara, were also panicked.  The soldiers ran out of the military camp, many of them not even wearing clothes, and their weapons were thrown away.  Everyone's eyes were full of fear.  The violent explosion, as if the earth was shaking and the mountains were shaking, filled the hearts of these recruits who had never experienced the baptism of war, with fear in their hearts.

"Damn it, send a telegram to the division headquarters. Those Chinese actually chose this place as a landing point. Come on, all soldiers, get into the position quickly, the Chinese are about to land!" Lieutenant Colonel Thomas, the regiment leader, said at  There was a loud order outside the headquarters.  However, those panicked soldiers didn't know how to carry out his orders.

"Boom!" At this time, a shell hit the command post.  Lieutenant Colonel Thomas' command post was blown into ruins, and he himself was sent flying by the powerful shock wave.  Fortunately, it was far away and no harm was caused.

"Damn it, come on, everyone, get into position!" Lieutenant Colonel Thomas got up from the ground and immediately ran towards the position on the beach.  The other soldiers followed him into the position.

However, soon the targets of the Chinese warships on the sea became positions on the beach.  The Navy began to clear the final obstacles for the Marine Corps to land.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" Densely packed artillery shells exploded all around. The non-standard trenches dug by the US soldiers were blown to pieces during the shelling.  Even the permanent firepower points made of reinforced concrete were blown to pieces during the shelling.

¡°Mom, I want to go home, I want to go home!¡± Some American soldiers, who had already been frightened out of their courage, cried in horror.  Some people couldn't stand the tremendous pressure and got up from the trenches and wanted to run to the shore.  As a result, it was blown to pieces.

A large number of American soldiers were lying in the trenches, holding their heads and enduring hardship.  They can only ask God to bless and protect the shells from falling on their heads.

The power of naval guns is very powerful, especially the 305 mm caliber naval guns on the two battleships. When a high-explosive bomb is fired, not a single living thing can be seen within hundreds of square meters, and there is even a hole with a diameter of ten meters left on the ground.  A huge pit of several meters.  The fortifications built by the US military are simply unable to defend against the navy's large-caliber naval guns.  During the shelling, the 3rd Regiment of the U.S. Army's 54th Infantry Division suffered heavy losses.  There were more than 1,800 people in the regiment. After the Chinese naval bombardment ended, less than half remained. The rest were killed in the bombardment.

At this time, hundreds of small boats appeared on the sea, and a battalion of Marine Corps soldiers rowed hard and launched an impact on the beach.  On the bow, a light machine gun was set up to provide fire cover for the landing troops.

"Get up and prepare to fight, the Chinese are about to land. Artillery, fire for me. Heavy machine gun, hit me hard!" Lieutenant Colonel Thomas, who was covered in sand, shouted loudly.

"Ta-ta-ta!" Soon, the heavy machine guns on the US military position began to fire, and a series of bullets hit the sea, causing splashes of water.  However, on the one-kilometer-long defense line, the US military only had 11 heavy machine guns, and three of them were destroyed in the shelling. It was simply impossible to block the beach with this firepower.

"Boom! Boom!" The mountain cannons on the US military position also started shelling.  However, the artillery suffered heavy losses during the Chinese naval bombardment.  Most of the people who survived were full of fear, and the bombardment was not accurate at all.

At 6:55 in the morning, the first landing craft washed up on the beach of Santa Barbara!
