Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

Not long after dinner in the morning, a bunch of naughty kids in the village came to Liu Junhao's house to pay New Year greetings. They all wore new clothes and called them "uncle" with playful faces, and then stretched out their hands to ask for New Year's money.

Liu Junhao had already changed his change and was waiting. He paid ten yuan per head, and he gave away more than two hundred yuan in one morning.

Of course, he also put the candy melon seeds out through a sieve early and put them on the table, letting them grab them if they wanted to eat them.

What he bought were all gummy candies, which were much more delicious than ordinary fruit candies, so the naughty children stretched out their paws to grab them in the basket.

Those melon seeds are watermelon seeds that he cooked himself. They taste very good, and these naughty children also like them very much.  When they left after celebrating the New Year, everyone's pockets were full, but more than half of the candy melon seeds in the sieve were missing.

These things were made for people to eat, so Liu Junhao didn't care and let them go.

The nostalgic feeling among neighbors as they wished each other New Year¡¯s greetings has infected many city dwellers, and they have begun visiting each other¡¯s homes to pay New Year¡¯s greetings.  Most of them are regular customers of Liujiagou, so they are no strangers to the villagers.  Of course, more city people still gather at Liu Junhao's place. Basically, they have bought eels here, and they are considered regular customers to Liu Junhao.

Nowadays, the interpersonal relationships in the city are changing very fast, and relatives are scattered in various places. The New Year celebrations of each family are very monotonous, and firecrackers are not allowed to be set off in the city. They can't lively and feel the New Year flavor.

But this year is different. Many people who have been to Liujiagou want to come here to celebrate the New Year and feel the lively atmosphere.

The crackling sound of firecrackers brought a strong sense of celebration, and the delicious food revealed a simple nostalgia. Everything made them feel that their trip was worthwhile.

Liu Junhao stayed at his home all morning. It wasn¡¯t that he didn¡¯t want to go out to pay New Year greetings, but the number of people who came to him to pay New Year greetings never stopped. It wasn¡¯t until the afternoon that he had free time to go to the village to pay New Year greetings from door to door.

In the third year of junior high school, Professor Zhao and his wife followed their children back to the city to pay New Year greetings to their old friends. Of course, they brought a lot of Liu Junhao¡¯s big sweet dates with them when they went back.

Those old friends were a little unbelievable when they saw the couple. Professor Zhao and his wife had rosy faces and bright faces, and they suddenly looked as if they were several years younger.

What surprised them even more was what came next: Professor Zhao played table tennis for half an hour in the Senior Activity Center without even taking a breath. You must know that he had been out of breath after playing for more than ten minutes before.

On the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the "New Year's Warmth" volunteer service team organized by the hospital came to the community to check the health of these elderly people. All of Professor Zhao's physical indicators turned out to be excellent.

Not only were the old friends surprised, but even the medical staff who conducted the examination said that after so many days of examination, this was the first time they had encountered an elderly person in such good physical condition.

Although Teacher Wang¡¯s health is not as good as Professor Zhao¡¯s, no major problems have been found. The doctor said that her blood lipids have dropped a lot, and as long as she pays attention to her diet, she will be fine.

After the examination, the old friends gathered around the couple and asked them questions, asking them what nutritional supplements they had taken in the past six months and how they had maintained their bodies so well.

No wonder they asked so urgently. Elderly people of this age are particularly concerned about their own health problems. After all, nothing is better than good health.

Professor Zhao also enjoyed the attention. He spoke with a bit of pride about the enjoyable pastoral life of the couple in the countryside. All of the envious old friends said they would wait for the weather to warm up in the coming days.  I also went to Liujiagou to live for a while.

Zhang Qian spent the New Year in a very depressed mood. The day after she returned home, her parents forced her to go on a blind date.

The man was a junior civil servant who also graduated this year. The two of them talked for less than ten minutes and she became very angry.

As soon as he heard that Zhang Qian was teaching in the valley, the civil servant followed this topic and talked about how poor the people in the mountains were, how poor the sanitary conditions were and they didn't even have enough to eat, and so on. Finally, he asked her how she could work in the mountains.  Where can you endure it for so long?

Zhang Qian was so angry that she almost threw the cup of coffee in front of him on his face. After returning home, her parents kept asking how the young man was doing, and said that they should have more contact with him.

Of course, what made her even more depressed was what happened later. After bringing Qiuqiu home, her little nephew had a good toy. He played with the water duck every day and kept stuffing chocolate and biscuits into its mouth.

As a result, in less than a week, Qiuqiu was tortured by the disease, and she no longer had the energy of the past.  At first, Zhang Qian thought it was just not adaptable to the new environment, and it should get better after a while.  But I didn't expect that only one day passed, the water duck'sHer condition became more serious. No matter how much she was fed, she wouldn't eat. She kept panting with her mouth open, and even her screams were hoarse.

It was then that Zhang Qian became anxious and hurriedly took Qiuqiu to the pet clinic in the city.  When she went there, she found out that they didn't treat ducks, so she had to take a taxi and go to the veterinary store to ask the veterinarian to treat Qiuqiu.

The veterinarian quickly found out the cause of the disease and got some medicine for the water duck. Qiuqiu started eating the next day, but she was obviously not as energetic as before. Zhang Qian said nothing and would not let her nephew play anymore.

Just after the New Year, she was forced by her mother to go on a blind date again. Zhang Qian saw that it would not be a problem if this situation continued, so she packed her things and said that school was about to start, and then took the car back.

After arriving in the county town, Zhang Qian specially stayed at Xu Xiaoli¡¯s house for one night and asked her to go to Liujiagou with her, because on the first day of the Lunar New Year, when Xu Xiaoli called to say New Year¡¯s greetings, she said she would visit her in two days.

With Xu Xiaoli accompanying us, Pang Xu, the driver, is naturally indispensable.  As soon as the foodie arrived at Liu Junhao's place, he ran to the kitchen to find something to eat.

There was half a bowl left of the steamed dumplings that had just been steamed in the morning. Liu Junhao originally planned to eat them for lunch, but all of them ended up in Pang Xu¡¯s stomach.

Returning to the village again, Qiuqiu screamed happily again, and Zhang Qian's mood improved a lot. She felt it was better here.

The next day was Powu, and Pang Xu encouraged Liu Junhao to lead them to the streets to watch the excitement.  After May Day, the Spring Festival is over, and people after a winter break will start to be busy with life, so the town is particularly lively on this day.

It was already half past eight when they arrived at the town. As soon as they reached the street, they heard the loud sound of gongs and drums and the crackling of firecrackers, which made people's ears numb.

There were so many pedestrians on the street that Pang Xu¡¯s pickup truck couldn¡¯t get in. He had no choice but to park the car in front of an acquaintance¡¯s house and ask someone to look after it.  The four of them entered the crowd on foot.

Neither Pang Xu nor his wife had breakfast in the morning, so when they walked to a stall selling spicy soup, Lian Lian said they were hungry and asked Liu Junhao and Zhang Qian to go shopping on the street first, where they wanted to fill their stomachs.

The streets are indeed very lively today. The town government specially organized a lion dance team and a land boat team to perform on South Street.

Liu Junhao and the others were watching it with great interest, when suddenly the crowd exploded, and they saw a half-sized ox running rampant on the street like crazy, scaring people to run away to the side.

Zhang Qian saw the cow charging straight towards her. She was so frightened that she forgot to dodge and stood there motionless with a pale face.

Seeing that the horns were about to hit her, Liu Junhao roared and pushed her aside. He grabbed the horns of the horns that rushed towards him and pushed them hard. He gritted his teeth and pushed the bull to the ground.

The scalper rolled on the ground and rushed towards Zhang Qian, seemingly targeting her.

Liu Junhao had no choice but to cross over again to stop the frightened cow. With quick eyes and quick hands, he grabbed half of the reins on the cow's nose and pulled hard. The cow screamed "moo" in pain, but it also calmed down and lost its previous madness.

At this time, a sweaty man squeezed out from the crowd and apologized to them.

"Are you okay?" Liu Junhao ignored him and stretched out his hand to pull Zhang Qian up.

"It's okay, it's okay." Although Zhang Qian said in her mouth, she still touched her chest with lingering fear. She was obviously very frightened by this scalper.

How could the scalper suddenly be frightened? Only then did Liu Junhao think of asking the man.

It turns out that some naughty child secretly tied a small firecracker to the tail of the cow while the owner was not paying attention. As a result, the cow was startled and naturally broke the reins and ran wild on the street.

Since Zhang Qian was fine, Liu Junhao did not pursue the matter further. After all, she did not do it on purpose.

On the other hand, the onlookers could not help but praise him. They did not expect that this young man was so energetic that he stopped a frightened cow forcefully.  You must know that when a cow is frightened, two or three young men are generally no match for it.

He didn¡¯t pay attention when he was nervous just now, but now that he was relaxed, Liu Junhao felt that his arms were numb and his palms were bruised by the reins, and now they were burning.

With such a commotion, they naturally lost interest in continuing to watch the excitement, and were ready to find Pang Xu and the others to go home together. When they arrived at West Street, Pang Xu and Xu Xiaoli were still sitting there happily drinking spicy soup.

"Little Mouse, I just heard that a cow was frightened on South Street and was subdued by a guy. Did you see it on South Street? Did that guy have particularly developed limbs?"

¡°I saw it, the guy with well-developed limbs you mentioned is me!¡± Liu Junhao said through gritted teeth.

¡°Cough¡cough¡¡± The vermicelli that Pang Xu had just taken a bite suddenly got stuck in his throat.
