Gu Long wrote more than 60 martial arts novels in his lifetime, and there may be more than 100 ghostwritten and fake books written under his name.  (After the death of Literary Museum, copyright disputes arose in the novel, and there were many lawsuits between relatives, friends and publishers, which affected the spread of the novel to some extent.

In 2005, Tamkang University in Taiwan held the 9th International Academic Symposium on Literature and Aesthetics, with the theme of martial arts novels and a focus on Gu Long's works.

Afterwards, Lin Baochun compiled a collection of essays: "The Proud Genius - Ancient Dragon: Proceedings of the International Academic Symposium on Ancient Dragons and Martial Arts Novels".

Gu Long himself believes that "Famous Swordsman" and "Peerless Two Prides" are still learning from Jin Yong, which is the early stage; the postscript of "Farewell Hook" says that he gained a lot of insights during the stopping period before Farewell Hook and thinks that after Farewell Hook is the later stage.

Some scholars believe that Gulong can be divided into four phases (the dividing points are Huanhua, Xiao Shiyilang, and Seven Weapons) or five phases. The following table shows one of them, defined by its style.

From the North to the South, the first novel in 1955, is not a martial arts novel, but a short literary novel.

"The Sword of Heaven" was written in 1959, which is the first martial arts work.  Only 4 episodes and 14 chapters of Sword, Poison and Plum Blossom were written in 1960, and were later ghostwritten by Shangguan Ding.  "Talk about Gu Long - An interview with a college classmate" He said that Shangguan Ding's writing was getting worse and worse, and Gu Long finished the formalities.  Shangguan Ding also wrote a sequel "Changganxing", and Gao Yong said that he would ghostwrite it after three episodes.

Due to the Japanese invasion and their return to their hometown, several Cantonese scholars took refuge in Mengshan, so they took Jian Youwen as their teacher.  Jian Youwen, an expert on the history of the Taiping Rebellion, and Jao Tsung-i, who was famous for his Dunhuang studies, poetry, calligraphy and painting, both lived in his home, and Liang Yusheng once learned history and literature from them.  Later, he returned to Guangzhou with his teacher and was admitted to Lingnan University, majoring in international economics.

After being introduced by the principal, he worked as an assistant editor of the supplement of "Ta Kung Pao".  He immediately made corrections and became a member of the editorial committee.  At the end of the following year, he was transferred to the New Evening News, a subsidiary of Ta Kung Pao.

In early 1954, Wu Gongyi and Chen Kefu¡¯s Chinese martial arts performance and Hong Kong charity singing fund-raising meeting were very sensational, so he took advantage of the situation and wrote "Dragon and Tiger Fighting Beijing".  This is the beginning of the new school of martial arts novels.

From then on, he continued to write, and by the time of "Wudang Yijian" in 1983, a total of thirty-three martial arts novels had been serialized. "Juese Zhuan Feng Lu" and "Jian Wang Chen Si" were both divided into two when they were published, and "Wulin"  Because "Three Jue" is still being revised, thirty-four volumes are handed down now.  Revised versions of some novels were released before and after the book was closed, but none of them were published.

The six departments of the Song Dynasty were closely related to each other, and they can also be made into a series.

In 2009, Liang Yusheng won the Australian-Chinese Cultural Lifetime Achievement Award from the Australian Federation of Chinese Cultural Groups in Sydney.

Liang Yusheng is known as the originator of new martial arts novels.  6. Readers in the 1970s regarded Liang Yusheng and Jin Yong as the two peaks of martial arts.

Liang Yusheng's "Dragon and Tiger Fighting Beijing" is recognized as the beginning of new martial arts novels, creating a new trend of martial arts novels. Later, famous works such as "Ping Zong Xia Ying Lu" bloomed the literary and emotional splendor of the new martial arts novels.  .

Liang Yusheng once commented on his status in martial arts creation: Liang Yusheng started the trend, and Jin Yong carried it forward.

Liang Yusheng is good at infiltrating more traditional Chinese culture and art into martial arts novels that are not considered orthodox.

He likes to intersperse traditional Chinese poetry and prose in his novels, integrating literature, history, poetry and couplets into one, catering to the aesthetics of traditional Chinese culture.  In addition to martial arts novels, Liang Yusheng is also good at writing essays and miscellaneous talks, and his chess and chess stories have been widely praised.

Jin Yong, the master of martial arts novels, wrote in the elegiac couplet of Liang Yusheng: "I mourn the death of brother Liang Yusheng: a colleague and colleague of the same age; a good friend who was also crazy, chivalrous and literary. The one who feels inferior: my brother Jin Yong of the same year."

Director Zhang Jizhong: The biggest feature of Liang Yusheng¡¯s literature is that it has a strong sense of history. It should be said that the people in the martial arts world in his works live in real historical backgrounds and societies. In contrast, Jin Yong¡¯s works often show people living in the martial arts world.  The knights in this world live in isolation from the rest of the world.
