The Trojan Epic series also includes the adventures of the descendants of the Trojan heroes (such as Orestes and Telemachus)

The Trojan War produced a large number of themes and became the main source of inspiration for ancient Greek artists (for example, the stall decorations in the Parthenon are based on the sack of Troy); the artist's preference for the theme of the siege of Troy further reflects his  Importance to ancient Greek culture.  (Literature Museumr />

This mythical siege story also greatly influenced later European writing.  For example, the Trojan-born medieval European writers did not know Homer at the time, but they obtained sufficient story themes about heroism and romanticism from the Trojan legend, and found themes suitable for their own courts and knights.  architecture.

Twelfth-century authors such as Benoit's Trojan Saga and Josephus on the Trojan Fields recast the war based on the descriptions in Dictytus and Darius, who in fact followed the advice of Horace and Virgil  Example: Adapting Troy's poetry into a novel rather than writing something completely different.

Myths are an extremely important component of ancient Greek life.  The Greeks considered mythology to be an important part of their history.  They used mythological stories to explain natural phenomena, cultural changes, and traditional hatreds and friendships.  This was the source of the Greeks' pride in their leaders having the lineage of mythical heroes or gods.

Basically no one would doubt the real situation behind the Trojan War described in the Iliad and the Odyssey.

According to Victor Hansen, a prominent American military historian, columnist, political commentator, and professor of Western Classics, and John Heath, associate professor of Western Classics at Santa Clara University, the profound knowledge of Homer's epic poems is due to its cultural  Osmosis was so convinced by the Greeks that Homer became known as 'Greek Education' and his works were called 'k'.

In the late 5th century BC.  Philosophy, history, prose, and rationalism began to gain ground, mythological facts became uncertain, and mystical genealogy began to give way to a conception of history (such as Thucydides's History) that endeavored to exclude supernatural claims.

While poets and playwrights continued to adapt the myth, Greek historians and philosophers began to quibble with it.

Beginning in the 6th century BC, some radical philosophers, such as Xenophanes of Colopen, labeled the poets' stories as lies that insulted the gods; Xenophanes complained about what Homer and Hesiod had said.  The gods depicted are the most shameless and obscene of humans; they steal.  commit adultery and defraud one another.

The main line of this thought appears in Plato's "Republic" and "Laws".  Plato created his own satirical myths to attack traditional tales of divine immorality such as trickery, theft, and adultery, and objected to their becoming the subject of literary works.

Plato¡¯s criticism was the first serious challenge to Homer¡¯s mythological tradition. He believed that mythology was the chatter of old women.

Aristotle, his ally, commented harshly on the pre-Socratic philosophical origins of similar myths: both Hesiod and the theological writers focused only on what seemed to them to be  From the letter's point of view.  But they do not respect us at all But these authors who write in the style of myth are not worth paying attention to; and those who insist on proving their claims must be questioned.

Nonetheless, even Plato did not succeed in keeping the influence of myth out of the social institutions he formulated; his own characterization of Socrates was based on the traditional Homeric and tragic models used to praise his  Teacher integrity:

"But perhaps some people will say: Socrates, don't you regret pursuing a path that puts you in danger of death? But I will simply answer him: Sir, you are completely wrong. If  If you just don't care whether what he does is right or wrong, and you only judge a person's quality based on whether he values ??life and death, then I believe that according to your argument, all the demigod heroes who died in Troy are bad.  Including the son of Thetis, who so despised danger that he could endure all insults and still longed to kill Hector despite the following words spoken to him by his mother (a goddess):

My son, if you kill Hector to avenge your friend Patroclus.  You are like killing yourself, because after Hector.  You will be the next to die.  (Homer, Iliad) When he heard this, he completely despised death and danger. Instead, he was afraid that he would live as a coward who could not avenge his friends. He said:

Even if I were to die immediately after taking revenge on this evil creature, I would not like to stay here and be ridiculed next to the ships that are a burden to the earth.  "

Hansen and Heath estimate that Plato¡¯s contribution to HomerThe rejection of traditional traditions was not accepted by the Greek grassroots civilization, because the old mythology still existed actively in regional beliefs; it continued to influence poetry and remained as a theme of painting and sculpture for a long time.

One of the Demon Guardians - Qu Yuan

Qu Yuan (340 BC - 278 BC) was a native of the Chu State during the Warring States Period. His surname was Mi, his family name was Qu, his given name was Ping, his courtesy name was Yuan, and his courtesy name was Xing. In "Li Sao", it is said that his given name was Zhengzexi, and his courtesy name was Lingjun.  .  Born in Danyang, Chu State.  Chu State Palace.

Qu Yuan was trusted by King Huai of Chu in his early years and served successively as Sanlu official and Zuotu. He often discussed state affairs with King Huai and participated in the formulation of laws.  At the same time, he presides over foreign affairs.  He advocated the alliance between Chu and Qi to jointly fight against Qin.  With Qu Yuan's efforts, Chu's national strength increased.  However, due to his own upright and proud character, coupled with the slander and rejection by others, Qu Yuan was gradually alienated by King Huai of Chu.

In 305 BC, Qu Yuan objected to King Huai of Chu entering into the Yellow Thorn Alliance with Qin, but Chu still completely fell into the arms of Qin.  Qu Yuan resigned in anger, left Yingdu, and lived in northern Han Dynasty.

During his exile, Qu Yuan created a large number of literary works, which were filled with his attachment to the Chu land and Chu wind and his enthusiasm for serving the people and the country.  His works have gorgeous words, strange imagination, novel metaphors and profound connotations, and have become one of the origins of Chinese literature.

In 278 BC, Qin Taiwei Bai Qi sent his troops south and captured the capital of Ying. Qu Yuan, out of despair and grief, threw a large stone into the Miluo River and died.  Legend has it that local people dropped rice dumplings to feed the fish to prevent Qu Yuan's body from being eaten by the fish. Later, it gradually formed a ritual.  From now on, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month will be the Dragon Boat Festival every year. People eat rice dumplings and row dragon boats to commemorate this great patriotic poet.

In 1953, the 2230th anniversary of Qu Yuan¡¯s death, the World Peace Council passed a resolution identifying Qu Yuan as one of the four cultural celebrities in the world commemorated that year.

Qu Yuan's "Xi Chan" in "Nine Chapters" of Chu Ci once said that one suddenly forgets one's humble status and poverty.

When Wang Yi of the Eastern Han Dynasty explained Qu Yuan's name in "Chu Ci Zhangju", he said: Zheng means Pingye; Zefa means Ling, Shenye; Jun means Tune.  There is no one better than Heaven who can speak of justice and justice, and no God can be better than the Earth who can nourish and balance things.

The name Ping refers to Fa Tian, ??and the original character refers to Fa Di.  Literally speaking, Ping means justice, and Pingzheng is the symbol of the sky; originally it was a wide and flat terrain, which is the symbol of the earth. Qu Yuan's birth date and name are consistent with the fact that the sky opens with Zi, and the earth opens with ugliness.  Born in Yin's three unities of heaven, earth and man.  At the time, I thought it was a good sign.
