The Yangxin Hall on the west side of the Qianqing Palace in the Forbidden City was built during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty. Emperor Shunzhi died of illness here in the early Qing Dynasty.  During the Kangxi period, this place was used as a workshop of the palace manufacturing office, specializing in the production of royal items.  The inner court of the Qing Dynasty attached great importance to the production of handicrafts. The Ministry of Internal Affairs had a manufacturing office dedicated to undertaking various tasks, including a replica workshop for Western glassware. The full name was the Glass Factory of the Yangxindian Manufacturing Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.  During the Qianlong period, this glass factory even produced outstanding varieties such as Venus glass and tire glass.

Since Emperor Yongzheng lived in Yangxin Hall, the workshops of the manufacturing office gradually moved out of the inner court. It has been used as the palace of the Qing emperor until the Qianlong year, when it was renovated and added. Qing emperors of various dynasties often summoned ministers here.

The yellow glazed tiled mountain-top roof of Yangxin Hall is not dazzling among the many palaces. It is also common in the Ming Dynasty and the Western Dynasty to have a rolling shed and a building.  In the front eaves and columns, two square columns are added to each room, making the appearance look like nine rooms.  The name of the Hall of Mental Cultivation comes from Mencius¡¯ ¡°Nothing to cultivate the mind is good at having few desires¡±, which means that the best way to cultivate the mind is to reduce sexual desire.  In order to improve lighting, Yangxin Hall became the first palace in the Forbidden City to be equipped with glass.

The afternoon sun shines on the ground through the golden glass of the Yangxin Hall, and the room is filled with a yellow haze. The emperor's throne is placed in the middle of the bright room, and a plaque "Zhongzhengrenhe" written by Yongzheng is hung above it.

At this time, Emperor Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty was sitting peacefully on the throne, looking at the four young people kneeling on the cold and luxurious bluestone floor under the imperial desk, and said slowly: "You, the Guarjia clan, are the founders of this dynasty.  Fei Yingdong, who was known as the enemy of ten thousand people at that time, and now your grandfather Tasha (grandfather is written as grandfather in Manchu Mafa for ease of reading) and Ama sacrificed their lives for the country. They are really loyal and can serve for our country.  The home of the world's most famous people."

The four young men kneeling on the ground glanced sideways at each other. The Gualjia family is one of the eight major Manchu surnames. According to different regions, the Gualjia family includes Suwanni Guarjia, Antu Guarjia, and Guarjia.  Branches such as the Yeheguarjia family and the Ulaguarjia family. Their branch is the Ulaguarjia family, which is not the same branch as Fei Yingdong¡¯s Suwaniguarjia family. The Ulaguarjia family  Emperor Xianfeng also knew the origin of the surname very well, but Xianfeng deliberately connected Fei Yingdong and said that they were all from the Great Guarjia family, which obviously meant to promote the Wula Guarjia family.

These four young men are the sons of Changrui and Changshou of Zhengbai Banner. The three on the left are the three sons of Rui Changrui, the commander-in-chief of Tianjin Town, Enlu, Yinlu and Chenglu. The eldest of the three brothers, Enlu, is only two years old.  Fourteen years old, the younger Chenglu was only fifteen years old.  The only remaining person is Ronglu, the only son of Changshou, the commander-in-chief of Liangzhou Town, Gansu Province. Ronglu also has two younger sisters, but they are still young and are girls, so they cannot go to the palace to introduce them.  Traditionally, the banner leader should be the first to be introduced by the bannermen, but the Zhengbai Banner is the top three flags, and the emperor is the flag owner. Therefore, the four people were introduced by Guiliang, the minister of the clan and the Minister of War.  Guiliang was also the Guarjia surname, named Yanshan, a Manchurian Zhenghong Banner, and the father-in-law of Prince Gong Yixi. He also took good care of these four orphans.

"I am deeply grateful that your grandfather and Ama have devoted their lives to the country, especially brothers Chang Rui and Changshou who generously sacrificed their lives in the battle. I specially ordered the commander-in-chief Rui Xun to be buried with him, and to be given the posthumous title of Wu Zhuang and to be enshrined in the capital.  Zhaozhong Temple, the Imperial Guard of Cavalry and the rank of Yunqi Lieutenant, the eldest son of the Imperial Guard and the rank of Yunqi Lieutenant. The eldest son is rewarded with the third-class bodyguard Enlu.  The guards with blue feathers are all walking on the gate. The general longevity is also sought to be buried, and he is given the posthumous title of Diligent and brave. He is enshrined in the Zhaozhong Temple of the capital. He is rewarded with the title of Cavalry Commander and the title of Yiyun Cavalry Commander. His son is honored and rewarded for his work.  The head of the department is a hereditary position."

The four of them thanked each other in unison, and the words they said were all the same. It was obvious that Guiliang had already given guidance before entering the palace.

After the four people thanked them, Xianfeng asked them to stand up, looked at their appearance carefully, and asked each of them to give their names.  The other three people, including Enlu and others, also arrived. They were all unimpressive in appearance. They played the music quite well and didn't say any nonsense. Guiliang was twirling his beard aside and was quite satisfied.

Only the 16-year-old Ronglu, who had a handsome face and a majestic appearance, announced his name loudly, his voice was neither humble nor arrogant, and his expression was calm and composed, and there was no trace of the fear and uneasiness of the other three sons.

Xianfeng found it interesting and asked one more question: "Ronglu, have you seen me before?"

Ronglu lowered his head in embarrassment and said, "I am so lucky to be able to see the face of heaven for the first time."

Xianfeng snorted and asked, "Then why is there no fear at all?"

Ronglu bowed slightly and said unnaturally: "This servant only thinks about how to repay the emperor's grace and how to serve the court. He doesn't think much about anything else."

Hearing this, Xianfeng felt that this boy's performance was very suitable for his taste. He smiled slightly and asked: "Now that you have been rewarded as the director of the Ministry of Works, you are doing things for the imperial court. So what are your plans in the future? How will you serve the imperial court?"

Ronglu still said a little awkwardly: "If I go back to the emperor, the position of director of the Ministry of Industry is not my specialty. What I want most in my heart isLike uncle and Ama, who can lead troops into battle to kill the enemy, the best thing is to lead troops to the south to quell the chaos of the long-haired bandits. This can help stabilize the country at the top, and avenge the death of relatives at the bottom!  "Whenever he said the word slave, his tone was a little weird, but the rest of his speech was very smooth.

Xianfeng didn't care at all. Hearing that he wanted his son to inherit his father's legacy, he was very impressed. He nodded and said: "As expected of a general, he is indeed loyal and courageous. If there are more people like you in the court, they can solve my problem."  I'm worried." Xianfeng picked up the tea bowl and took a sip and sighed: "But Ronglu, you are still young now, you are only sixteen years old, and you are the only male left in the longevity lineage. I really can't bear to give up.  You are on the battlefield. Even the job given to you is mainly civil service. Unlike your cousin, who has the title of bodyguard, it is because there are few men in your family so that you can be a civil servant and live a peaceful life."

Hearing this, Ronglu knelt down and kowtowed politely and said: "Thank you for your mercy, Your Majesty. However, these are troubled times. The long-haired bandits in the south are arrogant. Submitting to civil affairs may not lead to a stable life. I still want to be able to personally lead the troops to fight.  Enemies, those who avenge their fathers. I beg the Emperor to grant my favor, I beg the Emperor to grant my favor."

Guiliang on the side was shocked when he heard this, and hurriedly yelled: "Rong Lu! You young boy with yellow hair, the emperor's grace, thunder, rain and dew are all God's grace, and you don't know what's good or bad?!"

"Alas" Xianfeng raised his hand to interrupt Guiliang and said, "You don't have to scare him. I think this kid Ronglu is quite a talent."

With Xianfeng's comment, Ronglu was a little happy. He knelt down and said sadly: "Your Majesty, the errands of the Ministry of Industry are not my job. I still want to serve in the army. I don't want to accomplish it overnight. As long as I can go to the south to conquer Longmao."  A thief would be satisfied even if he were just a pawn."

As he spoke, he kept kowtowing, and there was a sad tone in his words. Seeing this, Enlu and the other three had to kneel down together and said that they wanted to go into battle to kill the enemy and avenge their father. For a time, the hall was filled with the pleadings of the four brothers.  Voices.

Xianfeng was also moved by the words of the four people, and for a moment he didn't know how to persuade him. He was accompanied by the military ministers Qi Jianzao, Kuilin, Peng Yunzhang, Mu Yin and others. They all felt sad after hearing this.  Compassion.

Kuilin was a tactful person and saw that Xianfeng was interested in cultivating a few people, but he was afraid of sending a few more people to the army. If they had military exploits, it would be fine. If there were any casualties, people would inevitably say that Xianfeng was mean and ungrateful.  Zhonglie, there is only one male left and he has to go to the battlefield to fight. The emperor's reputation for saintliness and benevolence will inevitably be damaged.  At that moment, Kuilin took a step forward, hit his horse-hoove sleeves, knelt down and said, "Your Majesty, it's rare that this boy Ronglu is willing to serve, but they are all still young and have little knowledge. They will inevitably suffer when they arrive in front of the army. Why not first?"  After a few years, he will be appointed as a bodyguard and become stronger and more knowledgeable. Then he can be selected as a military attache."

Qi Jianzao, Guiliang, Peng Yunzhang, Mu Yin and others all agreed. Xianfeng hummed and said: "Forget it, I will be relieved of the errands of the Ronglu Ministry of Industry, and will be appointed as a third-class bodyguard, and will also walk on the gate."

Ronglu seemed to want to say something else. Guiliang frowned and glared at the boy fiercely. Ronglu was slightly startled and had to lower his head, but his face was full of hesitation.  At that moment, Xianfeng said a few words of comfort and asked the four of them to kneel down.

Coming out of the main hall, Ronglu breathed a long sigh of relief. Enlu came forward and frowned: "Ronglu, what's wrong with you? Isn't it good that you are the director of the Ministry of Industry? What's wrong with being a civil servant? You just want to go to us.  Brother, how many bodyguard titles are there? The military position is always lower than the civil service, why are you here? Third uncle Quanxia Youzhi is afraid that I will scold you again."

Ronglu felt aggrieved and said coldly: "I just want to leave the capital as soon as possible and go south to find a long-haired warrior. It is at this time that a man makes great achievements. Are you happy to hide in the capital and be looked down upon by others?"  He ignored the three Enlu brothers and left by himself.

Yin Lu frowned and came forward and said, "What's wrong with Xiao Rongzi? You're not like this on weekdays. Why are there thorns in your words?"

Enlu sighed softly: "Perhaps he is depressed because his third uncle passed away. From now on, we will work together in the palace and take care of each other. It's getting late, so let's go back."

    ¡¡

In the Yangxin Hall, after Ronglu and the others knelt down, Xianfeng's face turned gloomy. He grabbed a memorial on the table and held it to the ground, shouting and scolding: "What do you think is going on? Chang Dachun,  The memorials of Cheng Zicai and Luo Raodian stated that they were frustrated when they led troops to attack Changsha again. Admiral Bao Qibao was killed in battle, and thousands of troops were lost! We only received news of the fall of Changsha yesterday, why did the news of the defeat arrive so quickly today?!"

Qi Zuozao, Guiliang, Peng Yunzhang, Mu Yin, Guiliang and others were all trembling with fear. Qi Zuozao was even more embarrassed. The dates of the fall of Changsha mentioned in the two memorials were two days apart, which shows that after the fall of Changsha, Luo Raodian  , Bao Qibao and others were detained for two days before reporting to the court. Therefore, the failure of the counterattack on Changsha two days later was reported by Chang Dachun and Cheng Zicai, governors of Hubei. The news of the fall of Changsha was only one day away from being sent to the capital.  Fortunately, Qi Jianzao had said all the good things to everyone yesterday, but he didn't expect Luo Raodian and Bao Qibao to play such a trick. They must have wanted to return to Changsha and win, and send the defeat report to the emperor at the same time as the victory report, which might reduce their guilt.

Qi Jianzao said bravely: "I think Luo Raodian and Bao Qibao were eager to regain their lost ground, so they reported late, or the officers were delayed on the road"

"Quiet words!" Xianfeng almost roared: "I don't want to listen to your rhetoric anymore. Give me an order. Luo Raodian and a group of officials who fled Changsha will be dismissed from their posts for questioning. They will all be sent to Beijing and handed over to the Ministry of Punishment for serious punishment.  Discuss the matter! I must kill a few people this time, otherwise everyone can make fun of me! Each of you has no king or father in your heart, and officials guard each other. Sooner or later, I will be fooled by you into becoming the Chongzhen Emperor!"

Emperor Xianfeng scolded all the ministers in the Yangxin Hall and ordered the arrest of a group of officials in Changsha. The angry Xianfeng refused to listen to anyone's advice.  The officials who fled Changsha were all questioned, which was quite shocking, but they indirectly helped Xiao Chaogui, the Western King of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom who was far away in Changsha, a big favor.
