In Taizhou City, Zhangzhou Town Commander Da Hong'a, the number one general under Li Tingyu, the Fujian Admiral of the Qing Army, was watching the Qing army's drills in the military camp.  Da Hong'a was from Manchuria's Xianghuang Banner family. He was a member of the Fucha clan and had the courtesy name Hou'an. He worked as an ordinary commander in the infantry yamen in the capital and then became the commander-in-chief of the army.  In the 15th year of Daoguang's reign, he was transferred to Taiwan Town to serve under Li Tingyu.  Within five years, he wiped out bandits in Chiayi and Changhua, and was highly relied upon by the Qing government.  In the 22nd year of Daoguang's reign, during the Opium War, he cooperated with Yao Ying, who was then Taiwan's Taoist priest, and defeated the British army that attacked Taiwan in the Battle of Da'an, which was one of the few victories of the Qing army in the Opium War.

The Battle of Da'an broke out in the 22nd year of Daoguang's reign. China and Britain had fought in the Battle of Jilong. The British brigantine warship Nalbada was anchored in Jilong Port (today's Keelung Port).  On August 16, the Narbuda fired artillery to attack the Ershawan Fort in Keelung. The Qing garrison in Taiwan returned fire, damaging the ship. The Narbuda fired heavy artillery and then withdrew from the harbor, accidentally hitting a reef during the evacuation.  As a result, water entered the hull and many crew members fell into the water and drowned.  Later, General Qiu Zhengong of the Mengga Battalion (Taipei Battalion) chased the sunken ship under Dahong'aling and captured 133 Indians. The remaining 10 British officers on board and 22 other Indians were killed in the battle.  On October 19, the British sent ships to Keelung to ask for prisoners in exchange, but the Qing army did not reply. On the 27th, they attacked the Ersha Bay fort again and sent troops to land at Sansha Bay. The Qing defenders fired back and the British ships fired back the next day.  Withdrew at noon, Ershawan Fort was also destroyed in this battle.

At the beginning of the 22nd year of Daoguang's reign, the British ship HMS Arn visited Wuqi Port (today's Taichung Port) and was stranded overseas.  Since the navy was not as strong as the British, Dahong'a ordered the garrison in Tamsui and Lukang to be on strict alert, and ordered them not to engage in naval battles with the British. He also decided to lure the enemy into Taiwan's inland rivers and run aground.

A few days later, the Arn wanted to land at Da'an Port in Da'an River, central Taiwan.  The Qing army then sent several fishing boats to lure its British ships into the many reefs in the river.  Because the British army was not familiar with the terrain, they later ran aground in the middle section of Da'an River.  Subsequently, Dahuna sent troops to ambush the British ship. In the end, the British ship was sunk and dozens of British people were killed.  In addition, there were eighteen British officers, one red man (Indian), thirty Indians, and five people from Guangdong and Kowloon who were captured. The Qing army also captured 11 cannons and other weapons on the ship.  and the few Chinese trophies previously obtained by the British ship in the Battle of the Yangtze River in China.

Early April.  The results of the Battle of Da'an were reported to the Qing court, and the Qing Dynasty rewarded Dahong'a, the crown prince, as the Taibao, and Yao Ying was awarded the second rank.  Daoguang, who had unexpectedly won a small victory, was naturally elated. He ordered Yao Ying and Da Hong'a, in addition to the captain and senior officers, together with the British captured in the Battle of Keelung earlier.  All of them were beheaded to show that the king's law was like a furnace.  In May, Yao Ying received the order.  Except for the captain of the Arne, Dian Lin, and eight other senior British officers, who were left for questioning.  The remaining 139 surviving prisoners were all executed.

But this small local victory could not change the overall situation. In early July, the British army approached Nanjing, and the Qing government finally had no choice but to negotiate peace with them and sign the Treaty of Nanjing.  After the treaty was signed, the British asked the Qing Dynasty.  Ordered Taiwan Town and Taiwan Road to liberate all British prisoners and return them to Xiamen, Fujian Province.  The Qing government was afraid that the peace treaty would change and did not inform the prisoners that most of them had been executed.

In September of the same year, the British sent the captain of the Shabian to carry the British military command document.  He sailed to Taiwan to retrieve prisoners, but he only brought back 9 prisoners of war from Tainan.  After learning that most of the British prisoners had been killed, the Nanjing Treaty Minister Pu Dingcha was extremely angry and accused Taiwan Dao Yao Ying and Taiwan Town Commander Da Hong'a of killing the prisoners.  For this reason, Proud Charter expressed serious dissatisfaction to Qi Ying, the negotiator of the Qing Dynasty in China. During the negotiations between the two parties, Proctor Charter not only denied that two British ships heading to Taiwan took the initiative to attack, but also accused Taiwan Taoist Yao Ying of killing a non-military British soldier.  citizen.  After negotiation, Qi Ying and Yi Liang, officials of the Qing Dynasty, went to Taiwan in 1843 to dismiss Yao Ying and Da Hong'a from their posts on charges of "wanton murder." Subsequently, the Beijing government of the Qing Dynasty exiled them to Sichuan.

So the two anti-British generals Yao Ying and Da Hong'a became Daoguang's scapegoats and were exiled.  After Xianfeng succeeded to the throne, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom revolted, southern Jiangsu fell, and the Xiamen Swordsmen Rebellion revolted. In addition to Li Tingyu, Dahong'a and Yao Ying were also reactivated by the Qing government. However, Yao Ying died of illness last year, and now Dahong'acheng  He became the commander-in-chief of Zhangzhou Town and was responsible for the guard of Taizhou, the forefront city of the Wen-Taiwan defense line.

In the past few days, the training horses of the peripheral regiments have been attacked one after another. No matter whether they were going to patrol the sentry or the regiment training horses going to harass the Taiping Army, none of them came back. Dahong'a keenly smelled an unusual atmosphere.  As the missing soldiers and horses of the outgoing team continued to move south, Dahong'a knew that the Taiping Army was gradually eroding its peripheral defense forces and had gradually formed a huge encirclement.

As a lifelong soldier, Da Hong'a had no choice but to order his troops to shrink outside Taizhou. At the same time, he urgently issued a warning to the Qing army in Wenzhou in the rear and Chuzhou on the flanks. The Taiping Army was very likely to launch an offensive in winter.

What makes Da Hong'a feel a little relieved is that his old boss Li Tingyu transferred the only cavalry in Fujian to his own command. Although this cavalry army of 5,000 peopleIt is not as good as the Mongolian cavalry of Senggelinqin in the north, but it is still a force that can maneuver in a wide range.  So Dahonga took him to the military camp every day to watch the cavalry drill and prepare for war. As a Manchu, he was still very superstitious about the illustrious martial arts of his ancestors who conquered the world with bows and horses.

It was nearly noon, and the cavalry of the Fujian Qing Army had also finished their drill and had withdrawn their troops to have their meal.  When Dahong'a was about to go back home to rest, he saw the Qing army's reconnaissance cavalry coming at a rapid speed. The knight on the horse shouted angrily before he could reach him: "The long-haired cavalry is coming."  Raid the Xun Bridge on the upper reaches of the Jiaojiang River!"

Dahong¡¯s white brows furrowed. The important barrier outside Taizhou is the Jiaojiang River, the main stream of the Lingjiang River System, the third largest water system in Jiaojiang and Zhejiang, and the mother river of Taizhou people.  The upper reaches of Lingjiang River are called Lingjiang River after they merge with the tributary Shifeng River.  Jiaojiang generally refers to the name of the lower reaches of the Lingjiang River in Taizhou. Its mouth is shaped like a pepper, so it is named Jiaojiang.  The Qing army's defense lines outside Taizhou all relied on the Jiaojiang River. The Xun Bridge was located more than 40 miles northwest of Taizhou. If this stone bridge was captured by the Taiping Army, Taizhou's defense line on the Jiaojiang River would become nothing.

The scout cavalry ran to Da Hong'a and dismounted, knelt down and reported loudly: "The long-haired cavalry is besieging Xunqiao. Mr. Qian of Xunqiao cannot resist it. Please send reinforcements as soon as possible."

Da Hong¡¯a frowned and asked, ¡°How many people are there?¡±

The scout cavalry said with a mournful face: "The number of people is unknown. We want to get closer. Their firearms can hit a long distance. All my companions were killed, and only my subordinates escaped. Mr. Qian of Xunqiao asked his subordinates to come back for rescue.  As far as I can see, there are more than a thousand people."

Hearing this, Dahong'a let out a laugh. He put three thousand regiments at Xun Bridge to practice garrison. There was a stronghold and long trenches built on the south bank of Xun Bridge. The weapons and supplies were complete, and more than a thousand cavalry with long hair dared to attack?  After Dahong'a thought for a while, he shouted sternly: "Instruct General Li Haocheng to lead the five thousand cavalry in the Huwei camp to have a full meal, and then go to Xunqiao to support him!" In Dahong'a's view, his five thousand cavalry plus  The original 3,000 infantrymen on Xunqiao should have been able to contain Xunqiao, but they didn't expect that since the Taiping Army could eat the small team of patrol soldiers and horses on the southern line, couldn't they also eat the cavalry that responded?  ?

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????¡  Qing army general Li Haocheng led five thousand Qing army cavalry and galloped in. They were still seven or eight miles away from Xun Bridge.  In the distance, I saw a green forest moving rapidly.  Behind is the dust.

Li Haocheng pulled out the monocular and looked at it, and saw a cavalry force of about a thousand people galloping towards them. This strange troop was dressed strangely, but the flags were those deployed by the Western King of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.

Li Haocheng gasped: "How did these long-haired thieves fly across Lingshui?" As soon as he said this, Li Haocheng secretly cursed himself for being stupid, as the water was dry in winter.  The cavalry in the shallow water upstream of Lingshui can naturally pass through. Otherwise, how could the sentry horses on the periphery of the southern line be killed quietly?

The Qing army had always been extremely wary of the soldiers and horses of the King of the West. Li Haocheng loudly ordered the generals to restrain his subordinates, but he saw that the enemy only had more than a thousand horses.  He had five thousand cavalry, and he thought he might be able to fight. He immediately ordered a thousand cavalry on the left and right wings to attack first, preparing to suppress the opponent's two wings. After that, the Chinese army's three thousand cavalry came forward and annihilated the enemy in one fell swoop.

The Qing cavalry on the left and right wing received orders to break away from the central army and rushed towards the cavalry in green uniforms on the opposite side, shouting loudly.  This cavalry is the hard work of Da Hong'a and Li Tingyu. In addition to the highest food and salary, all kinds of benefits are also the best. Da Hong'a also attaches great importance to the training of cavalry, so this cavalry is still very impressive when charging.

Li Haocheng looked at the cavalry on the opposite side. The commander of this cavalry immediately reacted. The cavalry was divided into two and went to the two wings. There was no central army left. The two cavalry were completely separated, leaving a huge gap in the middle.  of gaps.  Li Haocheng laughed. It turned out that this long-haired general was a stupid person, so that his Chinese cavalry could effortlessly insert into this gap, split them in two, surround and annihilate them.  After seeing the fighter plane, Li Haocheng ordered the Chinese army to follow them on horseback, preparing to get close to the charging distance before starting the attack.

Unexpectedly, when the cavalry on the left and right wings rushed to a distance of 300 steps, the opponent's cavalry on the left and right began to fire with carbines. There were almost more than 500 enemy cavalry on the left and right, with eight people lined up in a row, and a total of ten at the front.  Eight people lined up in a horizontal formation. The ten eight-man formation at the front began to beat their horses at three hundred paces. Then there was a burst of gunfire like fried beans. Amidst the firelight and gunpowder smoke, the Qing cavalry on the left and right began to scream.  Landing and falling off the horse.

After this round of shooting, the ten eight-man horizontal formation in the front row quickly separated to both sides, leaving the ten eight-man horizontal formation in the second row, while the previous ten eight-man formation returned to the rear of the formation.  .

In this way, the dense charging horse formation of the Qing army was shot five times by the Taiping cavalry. If a cavalry fell from the horse, it would inevitably affect the comrades behind him. After a round of gunfire, many cavalry fell from the horse.

Li Haocheng's eyes widened and his mouth opened wide and he was speechless. The opponent's firearm had a range of 300 steps, and it was very accurate. You must know that although the Qing army also had sophisticated muskets from foreigners,  The theoretical range of these muskets is about two hundred steps, but no one would start firing at a distance of two hundred steps, because the lead bullets of the muskets have no accurate point, and no matter how accurate the aim is, they will not be able to hit a target at a hundred steps.  people.  How could Changmao have such a sharp firearm?

"However, Li Haocheng comforted himself a little. It was not easy to load the carbine. After firing it once at most, he would enter hand-to-hand combat. The Qing cavalry was skilled in bow and horse, so he just had to survive this period.

But he hadn't finished comforting himself yet. Through the telescope, he saw the long-haired cavalry, after firing a round of carbines, galloping towards the back of the formation. When they got to the back of the formation, they let their horses walk slowly, and actually they were walking behind the formation.  Reloading ammunition on horseback.  After one round of fighting, the long-haired cavalry had five or six rounds of firing time to reload their ammunition, and their overall formation seemed to be leaning back, deliberately widening the distance.

Li Haocheng began to sweat on his forehead. For the first time, he saw the new tactics of the Taiping Cavalry. Charge - shoot - turn - load - charge again. This was very similar to the ancient and evil tactics of the Mongolian cavalry.

When Li Haocheng was hesitating whether to retreat, the eighth round of volley fire from the Taiping cavalry came out. The Qing cavalry on both wings, who were still more than a hundred steps away from them, finally couldn't bear the casualties and turned their horses' heads one after another and fled behind.

Li Haocheng shouted angrily: "Who told them to retreat?"

A Mr. Qian next to him said in a low voice: "Sir, the long-haired thief has sharp firearms. Why don't we stay away for a while?"

Li Haocheng also woke up at this time and cursed angrily: "What a fool! Long-haired firearms can hit such a distance, and they are all cavalry. The only way to win is to quickly get close to them and fight hand-to-hand. If you retreat like this, you will leave your butt to the enemy."  ! Follow me, the Chinese army, and you can win if you charge forward!" Li Haocheng charged forward with the remaining 3,000 Cossack cavalrymen of the Chinese army.

Li Haocheng said that after the Qing cavalry on both wings retreated, the opponent's cavalry began to pursue them. While pursuing, they fired firearms and defeated the two wings.  They quickly adjusted their formation and did not continue to pursue the fleeing Qing cavalry on both sides. They formed two large linear arrays on the left and right, and in each linear array, there was a small formation for every eight cavalry, like fish scales.  It was wrapped up in dense layers, and the movements were as fast as the wind.

After the Taiping cavalry at the front fired a volley of guns, the Taiping cavalry drew their sharp sabers and charged forward with a roar.  Seeing the dense layers of bright sabers, Li Haocheng felt a sense of powerlessness. The charge of the Qing cavalry was definitely not so rigorous and detailed.  The formation is charging. How did these long-haired cavalry train?

He didn't allow him to think about it. On the nearest charge line, in the snow-white light, a thousand cavalrymen on both sides of the enemy began to accelerate. The distance of dozens of steps was enough for them to raise their horse speed. Li Haocheng understood the opponent in an instant.  The division of troops was intentional. After defeating the two wings, he surrounded his own central army. It turned out that he was annihilated.

The battle flag of the long-haired cavalry was raised, and the charging bugle sounded loudly. Li Haocheng saw that his cavalry line was cut open like tofu. This wind-speed Taiping cavalry was also very powerful in hand-to-hand combat.  Could it be that he failed like this?  The last thought flashed across his mind. Li Haocheng saw a row of long-haired cavalry rushing towards his personal guard team. A shining saber passed in front of him. After that, his vision went dark and he fell into endless darkness.  middle.  .  (To be continued, please search Piaotian Literature. The novels will be better and updated faster!
