Setting up the coalition base camp in Chelyabinsk can be said to be a last resort. As the railway hub and gateway east of the Ural Mountains, there is still a 365-kilometer straight-line air distance from Ufa to the west of the Ural Mountains. The reason why the coalition forces blocked it  The purpose is not to prematurely expose the strength of the coalition forces west of the Ural Mountains.

In fact, Wang Geng still overestimated the caution of Tukhachevsky, the newly appointed commander of the Southern Group on the Eastern Front of Soviet Russia. The proud Tukhachevsky jumped from the commander of the First Army with 60,000 troops under his command to the command of the Third Army.  With a group commander of 160,000 troops, the caution that a senior commander should possess has given way to the urge to conquer Ufa and wipe out the Kolchak gang's base camp once and for all.

If the gold from the tsarist treasury transferred from Kazan to Ufa can also be snatched back, Tukhachevsky believes that the position of commander of the Eastern Front belongs to him!  Of course, there is no sign of the White Guards at all on the east bank of the Volga River.

The two forward cavalry divisions of the 1st Group Army have already occupied Almetyevsk and Bugulima. There are only two hundred kilometers left from Ufa. If it were not for the lack of logistical supplies, the local people would have run out to collect food.  , the progress of my own southern cluster is even faster!

On the coalition side, in addition to selecting strong Russian divisions from demobilized Russian soldiers and local refugees at the base camp in Chelyabinsk to form and train Russian divisions within the coalition establishment, Wang Geng sent troops southward along the foothills east of the Ural Mountains.  A roundabout force was formed. The formation of this roundabout force was as follows:

    1. Cai Tingkai¡¯s 1st Armored Mixed Brigade under Sun Liangcheng¡¯s 1st Armored Division has strengthened the division¡¯s armor regiment, engineering regiment, and baggage regiment, with about 15,000 people

    2. Chapayev Division, First Division of Ural Cavalry Army, about 10,000 people

    3. The 24th Infantry Regiment of the 24th Infantry Brigade under the Japanese 12th Division strengthens the special dispatch detachment composed of the 12th Cavalry Regiment. The detachment leader is the newly promoted Sakagaki assigned by the coalition headquarters.  Commander Seishiro!  About five thousand people.

The total number of the coalition's special forces reached 30,000. Speaking of which, the 25th Infantry Regiment was the first regiment in the entire Japanese army to trial the installation of American firearms from the Chinese participating forces. It served as a unified logistics supply for the coalition.  This is a brand new attempt. At the same time, this regiment is also equipped with a battalion of Chinese FD-17ii wheeled armored fighting vehicles and one hundred Dodge military trucks, becoming the first purely mechanized regiment in the Japanese army.

The roundabout force is led by Sun Liangcheng, commander of China's 1st Armored Division, as commander, Seishiro Sakagaki as chief of staff, and Chapayev, the bearded commander of the Ural Cavalry Division, as deputy commander.

As early as June 20, this force quietly set out and sneaked southward along the foothills east of the Ural Mountains. The size of 30,000 people could be said to be large or small. Wang Geng's idea was a bit like Takeda's during the Warring States Period in Japan.  In the battle of Kawanakajima with Uesugi, the Rangers took detours and cut off people's retreats!

To the south, at the southern end of the Ural Mountains, which stretches for 500 kilometers, is the Kazakh Alash Autonomous Republic, which declared independence in December last year. The leader is called alashrda. It can be regarded as a pro-Belarusian and anti-Bolshevik Kazakh government, but there is no such thing.  military power.

According to Taro Utsunomiya, the 30,000-strong Rangers sent by the coalition forces were too few. They thought it would be great to annex the Kazakhs, the Alash Autonomous Republic, under the Western Siberian Autonomous Government in one go.  Covering 2.7 million square kilometers of land, it is a vast and sparsely populated place, but the climate is much warmer than that of Siberia. If the water conservancy project is done well, it may be able to become an agricultural base and granary.

Wang Geng glanced at the deputy chief of staff who was rubbing his hands anxiously, and said jokingly, "You still think there is not enough space?"  A place like the Alash Autonomous Republic has opened up an undefended land, and it is never too late to clean it up. Either it will vote for us or the Soviet Union. At this time, it is considered a friend of the Kolchak Provisional Government, and we are  We are considered friendly countries, so we can¡¯t look too ugly when we eat, right?

"Your Excellency Utsunomiya, don't be anxious. Didn't we agree that everything east of the Ural Mountains belongs to Asia and is the territory of Asians? When the time comes, that Alash himself will stand in line to eat fruits. Are you still afraid of him?  You can't help but hug our thick legs!" It was Wu Peifu who spoke, and teasing the greedy and rigid Japanese generals was now a great pleasure for this guy.

Sun Liangcheng's 1st Armored Mixed Brigade has three armored regiments and one artillery regiment. Each armored regiment also has a six-gun artillery battery (3 75 field guns and 3 75 mountain guns). Each armored regiment has 120 Chinese ft.  The -17ii wheeled armored fighting vehicle has a 12.7-caliber Browning large-caliber heavy machine gun mounted on a 360-degree rotating turret, and carries a vehicle-mounted infantry squad containing 8 armed infantrymen.

Each vehicle-mounted infantry squad is equipped with a 7.62-caliber 1917bra squad machine gun.??2 1 Garand semi-automatic rifles and five 1903 Springfield rifles.  In addition, 60-caliber mortars are equipped to platoons, each platoon has a 2-gun 60-caliber mortar squad, while 81-caliber mortars are equipped to battalions, and each battalion has an 8-gun mortar platoon!

The artillery regiment of the armored mixed brigade has two field artillery battalions and one mountain artillery battalion. Each battalion has three companies of six guns, all towed by Dodge 1-ton semi-trucks. The total firepower of an artillery regiment is 36 75-caliber field guns.  and 18 75-caliber mountain guns.  Coupled with six mountain field guns from each of the three regiment-affiliated artillery companies, the number of artillery pieces in a mixed brigade reached an astonishing 72!  And this is just the standard configuration of the mixed brigade participating in the war.

The strengthened divisional artillery regiment is equipped with 54 150-caliber heavy howitzers. Although the heavy artillery has greatly increased the requirements for traveling roads, Wang Geng has full confidence in the steel-reinforced Dodge 1-ton semi-truck as a front-line fighter.  When dispatching a detachment, the presence of heavy artillery is critical to the future performance of this team, because the air support of the aviation team will always be affected by weather and night.

What is ironic is that the helmets worn by Wang Geng's participating troops are not the flat basin helmets like the British and French soldiers, but the helmets designed by this guy based on the style of German helmets. Compared with the Allied helmets, the German style  The steel helmet can better protect the neck. Of course, Wang Geng doesn't have the peak of the helmet like Prussian!

According to the battle plan formulated by the coalition forces, the battle code-named "Defending Freedom" will start in early July. The mission of the Southbound Rangers is to sneak 500 kilometers south along the eastern foot of the Ural Mountains before the battle is launched, and then escape the Ural.  At the southern end of the mountain range, turn to the northwest, waiting for the battle of "Defending Freedom" to officially begin near Ufa.

Sun Liangcheng's Rangers will drive straight in and take the back road of Tukhachevsky's Southern Cluster from the southeast. This will take 500 kilometers to travel. The goal is to capture Orenburg, Buluzuk, and Samara.  , closed the Volga River crossing in Seseran and cut off the retreat route of the southern cluster.

Fortunately, the southern end of the Ural Mountains is the Kazakh grassland, which has a relatively small impact on the fully mechanized Rangers. If it is mountains and forests, the road ahead will be much more difficult.  By the end of June, the Sun Liangcheng Rangers had successfully arrived in the Kazakh prairie after going through a lot of hard work.

In order to avoid alerting the enemy, all the herdsmen encountered along the way were detained and marched together in the baggage team to avoid leaks. Of course, the reconnaissance plane of the D4 Squadron also set up a protective net and reconnaissance net in the sky.  The benefits of reconnaissance are obvious, and the importance of air supremacy to modern warfare is increasingly understood by the Chinese, Japanese and Russian officers and soldiers of the Einsatzgruppe.

Talking about the 1st Ural Cavalry Division in the Einsatzgruppe, this group of Cossack cavalry from the former Tsarist Russia era really impressed Sun Liangcheng and Seishiro Sakagaki. Both the forward reconnaissance road and the rear were taken over by this Cossack cavalry division. The Cossacks are so tough.  It can be seen that in the words of the bearded division commander Chapayev, this is the best disguise. The appearance of a cavalry on the grassland will not be too eye-catching, but if the wheels are rolling, it will easily make people suspicious.

Of course, Captain Zisantaro of the 24th Infantry Regiment did not think so. In his opinion, Chapayev's cavalry rushed to be the vanguard to explore the road. In addition to the Cossacks being more adaptable to the local climate and environment, what was more important was that  Only they are the vanguard who can hold down the position and prevent the whole army from moving too fast. After all, the cavalry can be as tired as a dog after running for fifty kilometers, while the infantry can only take a nap while driving for fifty kilometers with a car.
