For Lezhevsky, it was by no means an easy task to lead an under-strength division to guard 24,000 lightly and seriously wounded soldiers and the main camp in Chernigovka, especially when more than 20,000 lightly and severely wounded soldiers woke up.  When I arrived, I found that the main force of the Southern Cluster originally stationed in the surrounding villages had quietly retreated early in the morning. The wounded soldiers of the Soviet Red Army said that they were filled with righteous indignation, but it was light. If they had weapons in their hands, they could destroy the entire empty camp.  They were all demolished!

When Lezhevsky, the commander of the Fourth Army, appeared in front of the wounded with the fully armed infantry division commanders, he temporarily calmed down the situation and waited for the cavalry regiment to pick up the lightly and seriously injured soldiers of the 4000 Cavalry Division under Ufa City.  After arriving at the camp, the wounded soldiers became angry again!

Many of the wounded were inspired by the original propaganda of the All-Russian Provisional Government in Ufa and were unwilling to come back this time. However, the White Guards in Ufa left no one behind, and the other Bolsheviks around them looked at them with bitterness and hatred, and they wanted to eat people.  Many talented people followed the crowd and returned to the Soviet Red Army. Who would have thought that the main force of ten divisions would disappear without a trace after one night. This was beyond the expectations of all the lightly and seriously injured soldiers.

If it weren¡¯t for the nearly 8,000 heavily armed former comrades holding Mosin-Nagant rifles with long bayonets around, and if it weren¡¯t for the wounded who were almost unarmed, the camp in Chernigovka would have been blown up long ago!

Fortunately, the commander of the Fourth Army, Lezhevsky, always had enough prestige in his own team. Now that he came forward, most of these wounded soldiers were soldiers of the Fourth Army, so after Lezhevsky tried his best to persuade him,  After shouting and scolding, the team finally stabilized temporarily, and the wounded from dozens of surrounding villages were gathered in the town of Chernigovka. At least there were houses here, which was better than living in tents.

Almost all the medical teams and ambulance carriages of the entire Southern Cluster remained. Among the more than 600 medical soldiers, there were more than 500 female soldiers, and there were far fewer doctors. There were no more than fifty in the entire field hospital, but they had to lead six  Hundreds of medical and nursing soldiers treated and cared for 24,000 mildly and seriously injured people. Each nurse had to take care of almost 40 wounded people, and each doctor had to take care of 400 injured people. There were not enough medicines and bandages at all. The female soldiers had to tear up the sheets and boil them with boiling water.  Let dry and use as a bandage.

One-third of the 24,000 lightly and seriously injured people were seriously injured. Most of the lightly injured people could move on their own, but the seriously injured people had to be carried by horses or people. Lezhevsky selected some of the lightly injured people.  The 8,000 people who were able to move and shoot on their own formed a division and were armed with some of the firearms left behind by the Southern Cluster. The firearms were barely enough, but the average number of bullets was only about five rounds per person.

The remaining 8,000 lightly wounded people helped the medical soldiers take care of the 8,000 seriously wounded people one-on-one. The entire position was arranged by Rzhevsky into an irregular hexagon, with the town of Chernigovka in the center.  The surrounding sides were about 3 kilometers each, and a regiment of troops were stationed on each side. Trenches were also dug in the fields and hills.

The heavy machine guns were set up as fixed firepower points. Although there were not many bullets, the area to be defended was also small. Therefore, when the troops of a cavalry brigade of the Ufa White Guards screamed and launched an attack, they were quickly attacked by Maxim.  The machine guns fired back and dropped more than 200 corpses. This small victory restored the morale of the Red Army on the entire defense line to a certain extent.

And Lezhevsky¡¯s slogan to boost morale and stabilize the morale of the military is:

"The commander of the group army is with you! The main force of the group is going to detour and outflank the enemy's retreat. In less than three days, reinforcements from the Fifth Army and the Ninth Army will arrive! Persistence is victory! Victory belongs to the glorious Army.  Fourth Army, victory belongs to the Soviet Red Army, and glory belongs to the Soviets!¡±

Although it was encouraging to be able to repel the attack of a White Guard cavalry brigade with less than two divisions remaining on hand, not long after, at least two cavalry divisions of the White Guards poured in from both sides of the Soviet Red Army position.  The Cossack cavalry, waving their shining sabers outside the shooting range, threatened and laughed and cursed at the Red Army infantry who were lying behind the position.

The sound of horse hooves like a tide made the earthquake rumble, and the courage that Lezhevsky's team had just mustered up dissipated a lot. After consecutive defeats, the Fourth Army, which was at a disadvantage in terms of strength and low in morale, was no longer able to recover.  They have the courage to challenge two Cossack cavalry divisions, not to mention that their total number that can go into battle is only 15,000, while the opponent's 20,000 are still cavalry.

The soldiers of the Chapayev Cavalry Division of the First Army who were left behind for Rzhevsky¡¯s cavalry regiment also had solemn faces. They looked at the mighty White Guard Cossack cavalry in the distance. The eyes of the Red Army soldiers were filled with anger and sadness. They now have no  Challenge the enemy's strength.

In fact, Tukhachevsky left this cavalry regiment in order to break out the Fourth Army Commander Lezhevsky and his headquarters when necessary, counting on a 2,500-manIt is undoubtedly a fantasy that our cavalry regiment can change the situation of the war and save the fate of 24,000 lightly and seriously wounded soldiers in the Southern Cluster!

The opponent's cavalry did not stay too long in front of Lezhevski's position, and soon surged toward the west. It was obviously possible that they were chasing the retreating main force of the Southern Cluster, but Lezhevski could not.  The Cossack Cavalry Division of the White Guards caught up with the main force of the Southern Cluster.

Using two cavalry divisions to attack ten infantry divisions will never gain any advantage unless the opposing commander is crazy. Of course, if the Southern Cluster is not organized well during the retreat, there is no guarantee that someone will take a piece of it from behind.  Meat, but no matter what, it will definitely not be a fatal blow to the main force of the cluster.

The Cossack cavalry on both sides of the Red Army position had not disappeared into the western wilderness. Two squadrons of thirty-six coalition aircraft were buzzing in the sky, circling overhead. This was confirmed by the wounded cavalry division soldiers who had just been picked up.  The coalition forces have already dispatched aviation and armored forces in Ufa. Rzhevski's heart suddenly sank. He was afraid of what could happen. Obviously, the coalition forces had participated in the process of the Ufa battle from beginning to end. Yesterday, on the river bank of Ufa city  The heavy artillery on the high ground might be the artillery of the coalition forces showing off its power!

The only uncertainty is how many troops the coalition has deployed to intervene in the situation west of the Ural Mountains, and what strategic goals it wants to achieve. Whether it is to defend the capital of Ufa for the Kolchak regime, or to engage in a comprehensive war with Soviet Russia.  Start a war and bring the flames of war to Moscow. Of course, the coalition forces are now the thugs and vanguards of the Allied imperialist interference in the domestic situation in Soviet Russia, and they are the spokesperson of the Allied Powers on the Russian Eastern Front battlefield!

Rzhevsky was a bold and careful general. In this aspect, he was greatly influenced by the Russian military god Brusivov when he was growing up. This guy also saw great achievements on the Eastern Front battlefields of Tsarist Russia and Germany.  The master of the world was the master of division commanders under Brusilov's army group. He soon asked the wounded of the cavalry division about the battle that led to the destruction of the cavalry division.

Although the injured person being questioned was still frightened, he said that the coalition forces on the opposite side were Chinese armored troops all over the mountains and plains. The wheeled armored tanks were not only equipped with large-caliber heavy machine guns with amazing range and lethality, but also carried infantry squads with powerful firepower.  It is astonishing, and the Chinese armored forces are equipped with a large number of mortars. The soldiers can skillfully operate the mortars and can make bullets rain down like rain. When the fighters and bombers in the sky start to take turns to straf and bomb, the entire once  The heroic 1st Cavalry Division of the Fourth Army almost collapsed!
