The horsewhip in Alexander Petrovitch's hand was about to hit the face of the commander of the main 7th Brigade, Pochka. This stubborn subordinate still refused to let go. In the blink of an eye, the 7th Cavalry Brigade had arrived on a hill.  In the town of Acehkovo on the hill, the commander of the vanguard battalion, Turkin, came running back on his horse and reported excitedly,

"Master Alexander! The town of Acekovo opposite is an empty town. Our vanguard battalion captured more than a hundred stragglers of the Red Army. They lost their shoes and were too hungry to walk. They were resting in the town. We were  Catch them all! No one escaped!"

The 1st Ural Cavalry Division was expanded into a cavalry corps. Petrovich put down his orderly Turkin and became a battalion commander. This big orderly was good at riding horses and his marksmanship was neat. He was so good with Petrovich.  Over the years, I have secretly learned a lot of skills, and now I am able to command a cavalry battalion in a decent manner, but I am not used to being called "division commander" and call me "master" all the time!

"Turkin, you bastard, there are no bosses at the moment, only army commanders and generals. How about it, have the prisoners been interrogated? Where did Tukhachevsky go?" Petrovich laughed and scolded.  **-< Piaotian Literature registered members recommend this work >-*

"The prisoners were mainly from the Infantry Division of the Fourth Army of the Soviet Red Army. They fought with us for several days and knew that we treated prisoners preferentially, so they simply fell behind the team if they couldn't run away. Anyway, they wouldn't be shot if they were captured.  According to the prisoner's confession, the main force of the Southern Group passed by two hours ago, and the destination is not yet clear. Anyway, the order he received was to go to the west to join the Fifth and Ninth Army Groups!  Smart.

"It passed two hours ago? Grandma's, running like a rabbit. Little Pochka, tell the whole brigade to be on alert and rest for ten minutes! Bring me the map!" Petrovitch jumped off his horse and wiped his face with his hat.  Sweating from oil, he walked towards the shade of a tree on the side of the road.

"Commander, why don't we go into the town to rest?" the brigade commander, Major General Xiaobo Chika, asked with a strange look. In his opinion, the town is 1 kilometer ahead, so of course we have to go to Acehkovo first!

"I'm telling you, you are naive. Do you think Commander, I am just chasing after you casually? Just imitate me! Turkin, pick a company from your battalion to put on the captured Red Army uniforms, and continue to reconnoiter westward. A platoon  Take the main road, the two platoons walk 500 meters away from each other on both sides of the road, search forward! If you encounter enemies, shoot and call the police!" As he spoke, Petrovitch strode to the shade of the tree and found a stone to sit on.  The guards and Cossack cavalry dismounted one after another to rest, drinking water, eating dry food, and being alert.  (_-< Registered members of Piaotian Literature recommend this work >-)

"Commander, I don't understand, why don't we go into the town to rest. There are houses and wells there, and it's convenient to drink horses! If not, we can still bury the pot and cook!" Little Bochika threw the horse's reins to the guard and hurriedly followed.  Come over.

"Isn't this a small river? Let's rest our horses here to catch our breath and fill our stomachs. This town of Acehkovo is on high ground. If our troops rush in to hit the tip and have a rest, let alone whether the enemy has laid water in the well.  It's poisonous, the smoke is rising, and it can be seen ten miles away. I guess this old boy Tukhachev may not be so easy to deal with, and his marching limit this morning is only around here!"

Petrovich took a gulp of water, handed the water bag to little Bochka, and explained at the same time.

"But the prisoner didn't say that the main force of the Southern Cluster had passed two hours ago! I'm afraid I don't know where to run now!" Little Bochika took the water bag without drinking, waiting for his commander to answer his questions.

"You are stupid, but you are really stupid. The remaining troops of the Southern Group of the Soviet Eastern Front are basically infantry. After walking all morning, I am so tired that I can still walk in two hours.  How far, ten kilometers at most!" Petrovich lowered his head and looked for his location on the one-fifty-thousandth military map. He quickly found Yazikovo, made a gesture, and left Cherny.  Govka is at least 55 kilometers away.

This guy wandered further to the west, and the small town of Milna, ten kilometers away to the west, was clearly in sight. Well, this is probably where it is!  Petrovich punched Milner's position hard, raised his head and said,

"The enemy must have stopped to rest when they came as far as Milna. The sun is so harsh. We cavalry are tired, hot and hungry, not to mention that they are almost all infantry! Tell the whole brigade to drink water and feed the horses quickly.  Eat dry food and rest, we will set off in half an hour, follow me to meet Tukhachevsky!" Petrovich took a piece of horse jerky sprinkled with salt from the orderly's hand and took the lead in eating it!

"Do you want to turn on the radio and ask for instructions from the coalition headquarters?" Xiao Bochika said cautiously.

"It's not too late to report after the fight. At least a few people must be arrested.Let's go back and figure out the other party's current plan and next move, right?  But it¡¯s okay to send a telegram back first, just saying that our department has been following and pursuing the enemy and found traces of the enemy near Milna. Please give us the next step of action!  "Petrovich gnawed the horse meat nonchalantly and said,

"Damn it, the horsemeat sent by the Red Army these days is enough. The Red Army on the opposite side probably can't even chew black bread!" the commander of the Second Ural Cavalry Army said with spittle flying around.

Not long after Petrovich and the Cossack cavalrymen of the 7th Brigade rested for a while, a call back from the coalition headquarters came.

"To His Excellency Petrovitch, Commander of the Second Ural Cavalry Corps, your department's first task is to completely encircle the westward breakout direction of the Rzhevsky Group in Chernigovka. The main force in pursuing the Southern Group is not one or two cavalrymen.  The task that the division can complete, if Tukhachevsky is too desperate and jumps over the wall, you will suffer a loss. According to aircraft reconnaissance, the main force of the Southern Group is within a five-kilometer radius of Milna. You are too close to the enemy. Please send a small force.  The troops can just keep tracking and reconnaissance, and the cavalry brigade can turn back as soon as possible to avoid the threat of the enemy's main force!

    "Ufa Allied Forces Headquarters"

As soon as Petrovich finished reading the telegram, there was a burst of gunfire in the distance to the west, and then he saw the Turkin advance battalion that occupied the town of Acekovo withdrawing in a chaotic manner, and then there was a faint sound from further to the west.  The sound of horse hooves shaking the earth.

"Master Alexander, almost all the three platoons of the reconnaissance company have been made dumplings. The whole company has withdrawn less than ten people. There are at least tens of thousands of Red Army troops ambushing on both sides of the road. The other side has now dispatched a cavalry division.  They are chasing us, please retreat, master!" Turkin ran down the hillside with hundreds of Cossack cavalry in a panic!

"Calm down! The whole brigade listens to my command and mounts! Get ready to fight!" Alexander Petrovitch was startled and broke out in a cold sweat on his back. If it hadn't been for the delay of Little Bochka just now, plus the prisoners of Turkin's vanguard battalion,  After asking about the situation of more than a hundred prisoners of the other party, my cavalry brigade should be beaten by at least five divisions!

The Cossacks hurriedly mounted their horses, and the team of more than 4,500 people was in a fuss. Turkin had already rushed to the front with his battalion. Petrovich wanted to lead the cavalry brigade to charge before retreating, but Xiaobo couldn't stand it.  At Chica Bridge, he turned around and retreated, shouting orders as he retreated.

"Everyone in the 7th Brigade is retreating eastward! Quick! Quick! Retreat eastward!" Battles between cavalry divisions often involve either chasing and escaping to see who can't run first, or charging at each other and fighting to the death with sabers.  of fighting.

"The opponent here is a cavalry division, and we only have a cavalry brigade. There is a huge disparity in numbers. Moreover, the opponent is resting for at least one to two hours. There are several infantry divisions behind them that can pounce at any time. This battle cannot be fought here.

In this way, Petrovich once again showed his true qualities as a lucky general. He used a cavalry company to get out of the ambush circle of four infantry divisions of the Soviet Red Army, and turned around and withdrew eastward before the opponent's Chapayev cavalry division caught up. Of course,  , Chapayev, the commander of the Turkestan Cavalry Division, a warrior of the Soviet First Army, was not without gains. He at least rescued the hundreds of straggler Red Army prisoners captured by Petrovich's 7th Brigade along the way.
