    July 11, 1918 19:00 Milna Yatchikovo

About 36,000 troops from the four divisions of the Second and Fourth Army withdrew to the Milna line in the afternoon. The Yachkovo position was handed over to the two infantry divisions of the First Army. Tukhachevsky really planned to use  The troops of the two divisions went east to block the enemy forces in the direction of Ufa, thereby creating conditions for the main force to break through.

Of course, this man did not intend to lead these two divisions to carry out such a heavy task. The Volisk Infantry Division and the 1st Turkestan Division shouldered the important task of blocking the enemy at the Acehkovo position, and the Political Commissar of the First Army Yankovgai  Then he shouldered the important task of commanding these two divisions.

Tukhachevsky left a cavalry battalion to escort his political commissar, preparing to protect the political commissar's retreat at any time when the situation went bad. Tukhachevsky himself led the remaining soldiers half an hour ago.  Three infantry divisions and only one brigade of Chapayev's cavalry division left Milna and retreated south.

The two divisions Yankovgay was destined to command encountered an attack by two cavalry divisions of the 2nd Ural Cavalry Corps chasing from the direction of Ufa shortly after nightfall. Although the strength of the two sides was about the same, there was a huge difference in firepower.  Petrovich and Sergei commanded two divisions to surround Yankovgai's two infantry divisions in Acehkovo and beat them up.

These two Cossack cavalry divisions have strengthened the platoon and battalion level mortars equipped by the coalition forces, and each cavalry division is equipped with four horse-drawn artillery companies. The number of Maxim's heavy machine guns also far exceeds that of its opponents.  It took only an hour and a half for 20,000 well-armed Cossack cavalry to divide, surround and annihilate the two Soviet infantry divisions remaining in Acehkovo.

The battle between Petrovich and Sergey was considered clean and tidy. Before Wu Peifu's brigade could come up behind them, they took advantage of their mobility and firepower to kill two enemy infantry divisions. More than 4,000 Soviet Red Army soldiers were killed, and the remaining 14,000 people were killed.  They were captured. Almost half of the prisoners were wounded. Less than 2,000 people broke through the cavalry army and ran out in the dark. However, Yankovgai, the political commissar of the group army, was protected by the cavalry battalion before the position was completely surrounded and was beaten.  The scattered troops ran westward and disappeared without a trace.

The political commissars of two divisions of the Soviet Red Army were killed and two division commanders were captured. However, the two cavalry divisions of the Second Ural Cavalry Army suffered less than a thousand casualties in the attack.

The two captured division commanders refused to speak. The prisoners who were interrogated below had no idea how the group army's specific breakout plan was arranged. They only knew that the political commissar Yankov and the two divisions were responsible for blocking the pursuing troops in the Ufa direction. Others  I don't know if I ask three questions.

At this time, Petrovich was dumbfounded, and after some calculation with Sergei, a cavalry regiment was left to guard the prisoners and clean up the battlefield. The rest of the troops pursued in three directions, while reporting to Wu Peifu of the Ufa Central Cluster and the Ufa Allied Forces Headquarters.  The situation of this battle and the news that the enemy had retreated across the board and the direction was unknown.

Petrovich himself led the 4th Ural Cavalry Division to pursue west, Sergei led a cavalry brigade to pursue south, and another cavalry regiment of Sergei's division pursued north. These men were careful and calculated the time.  The enemy situation report from the Hawkeye early warning aircraft before evening was that the South Group was changing defenses but did not leave the Milna and Acehkovo lines. This guy ordered both the north and south routes to pursue them for 30 kilometers. If the enemy was not caught, they would search in the east and west directions. Today  No matter how late or tired you are, you still have to find the enemy.

Although Petrovich led his cavalry division to be exhausted, he still encouraged the pursuit westward from Acehkovo. When Milna arrived at 9 o'clock in the evening, he found that the main force of the Soviet Red Army's Southern Cluster was empty.  Cursing loudly, he vaguely felt that he was wasting time on the two infantry divisions that were blocking the attack, which seemed to be a bit of a trick on the other side. Tukhachevsky made it clear that losing soldiers to save vehicles was a business!

After resting for 15 minutes, Petrovich led a cavalry brigade and continued to pursue westward, but each sent a regiment to pursue the north and south. Like Sergey, this guy knew that catching up and sticking to the enemy was the first priority of the cavalry army.  It is a mission, and it doesn't matter whether the opponent can be annihilated. When Wu Peifu's team comes up, the opponent will definitely not be able to escape.

As a result, something went wrong. It turned out that after Mahin and Hevitin led the four divisions to leave Milna, they did not retreat directly along the main road to the west. Instead, they left the main road and marched in the dark three kilometers to the north and south of the road.  Xi, these two people had no confidence in Yankov's ability to lead only two divisions to block the attack. The first one to catch up must be the cavalry, which they did not expect.

By the time Petrovich and the others had annihilated the two infantry divisions that Yachkovo was blocking, Mahin and the others had already traveled an extra three hours and arrived at a place about 30 kilometers southwest of Milna, a place called Buznik.  Near the village.

"Comrade Ma Xin, I think we can no longer disperse and withdraw. The enemy must be cavalry. If we are too dispersed, our firepower will be weak, and we will not be able to fight at all. We will be divided and annihilated." Fourth  Hevesin, the political commissar of the army group, caught up with Ma Xin's team and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"The sound of artillery in the east has stopped for a long time. Do you think it was Yankov who blocked the enemy, orboth divisions were wiped out?" Ma Xin listened for a long time, and there was something in the east sky.  The red light but the sound of artillery could no longer be heard. When they just left Milna, they could still hear the rumbling sound of artillery coming from the direction of Acehkovo. This sound of artillery not only made them worried and nervous, but also made them hopeful.  At least the position has not been breached, and the battle is still going on. Here, when the people who left were tired, they looked back and heard nothing.

"Comrade Hevezin! What do you mean? Do you want us to stop and be prisoners?" Mahin's political commissar Kharchenko said dissatisfied.

"The soldiers can't walk anymore and have to rest for at least half an hour before they can continue on their way. However, what I consider is that if the opponent is chasing cavalry, our two legs cannot outrun others' four legs. It is expected that the team will be exhausted.  If we can't resist, we might as well stop and build a position to ambush it! If the carbine is successful, at least there will be no more pursuers to harass us tonight!" Hevitin made his suggestion seriously!

"Are you planning an ambush? There are no heavy weapons or machine guns. How can you resist the impact of the opponent's cavalry? Last time, Chapayev's cavalry division was defeated by a cavalry brigade. The opponent's mortar and machine gun firepower was terrifying. You  Even though we have four divisions, how can we withstand the enemy's artillery shells and heavy machine guns with just the Mosin-Nagant rifle in our hands?" Khachenko was obviously frightened by the blazing firepower of the coalition forces and lacked the will to fight.  .

"Comrade Hevesin, you are right. We need to ambush the opponent, but you can't leave all four divisions to ambush. That would lose the meaning of ambush. Our main purpose is to delay and mislead the enemy. Let me tell you.  , leave one division to ambush in the north of the road, and the other three divisions should not go west along the road. Let's run south first and stay away from the road. After walking 10 kilometers, we will go west. There are several lakes over there.  , Cavalry operations are limited by terrain.¡±

Ma Xin rolled his eyes and came up with an idea. It sounded really good to me. It was just the division from Lu Bei that lured the enemy and ambushed them. Whose division should he send?  It must be a hard job for cannon fodder to escape death!

"Hey! This battle was really a useless one. Hundreds of thousands of troops were driven away like dogs and rabbits by the Tibetan rebels. How could this be our heroic Soviet Red Army!" said Kharkchenko, political commissar of the Second Army.  His emotions were so out of control that he couldn't help shouting at the top of his lungs.

"Comrade Political Commissar, keep the green hills and don't worry about running out of firewood. We don't have air superiority, and we don't have enough artillery and machine guns. Now I even doubt that we may not even have more troops than our opponents. How can we fight this battle? We can only start first.  Withdraw, if 200,000 people retreat in a group, the other side can blow us up to ashes with just air strikes along the 300 kilometers. They can only retreat in a scattered manner. Asking the other side to press fleas with ten fingers cannot cover everything! "Ma Xin!  Patting your partner's shoulder to comfort him.

"I agree with Comrade Ma Xin's approach. I will lead a division of the Fourth Army to ambush in the north of the road. When the enemy catches up, I will ambush. Then I will fight while retreating to the north. Ma Xin, you lead three divisions to the south.  Go as far as you can, don't look back, don't care how fierce the fighting is behind you, the seeds of the remaining division of the Fourth Army will be left to you!" Hevitin gritted his teeth and shouldered the heavy responsibility of breaking up the rear.

Ma Xin's heart felt hot, and she held Hevitin's hand tightly, and then the two hugged each other again. Ma Xin jumped off his mount, handed the reins to Hevitin's hand, and said, "Get on my horse.  Well, it is a good horse, a descendant of the Don hippopotamus, only 3 years old, a good horse that can see the road clearly at night. Comrade Hevesin, remember my words, you and the soldiers must remember, keep the green hills.  Don¡¯t worry about running out of firewood!¡±

Hervey smiled hard and thought to himself, you might as well just let me surrender. After all, I am still a political commissar and a Bolshevik, no more than your group army commander or division commander. I am a military commander, and I am much more popular with the White Guards than our political commissar.  !  If I, the political commissar, dare to surrender, not to mention whether the Cheka in the team will shoot me in the back, even if I go to Ufa, I may be shot by the White Guards to sacrifice the flag!

Hevitin and Ma Xin then divided their forces. Hevitin led a division of the Fourth Army to set up a position north of the road to ambush the pursuers, while Ma Xin led three divisions and ran southward in the dark.

The situation on the battlefield was ever-changing that night, and countless people stayed awake all night!
