July 25, 1918 18:00 Samara Allied Forces General Headquarters

"Reporting to the Commander-in-Chief, General Wu of the Southern Front sent a call. His headquarters and leading troops have been stationed along Yekaterinodar. The 1st Armored Regiment of the Mixed Armored Brigade and the 1st Brigade of the 1st Division of the Don Cavalry Corps have seized the east side.  One hundred kilometers away, Maykop and its oil fields, refineries and oil wells were not damaged! The local Soviets were dispersed by Denikin's White Guards a month ago, but there are still sporadic guerrillas from the Soviet Red Army!"

Lieutenant Colonel Qian Tianfu, director of the operations room of the Allied Forces Command, held the telegram he had just received from the Southern Front Command in his hand and reported excitedly.

"Wu Peifu is very impatient. How many miles has he traveled this day? Wasn't he still in Tsaritsyn in the morning? He arrived at Rostov-on-Don at noon, and then went south to Yekaterinodar in the evening? He's not afraid of a kick.  What happened when he stepped into the mud? Why didn't his front army headquarters stay in Rostov and go to Yekaterinodar?" Wang Geng turned around from the battle map and frowned slightly.

"The railway line south of Tsaritsyn is well developed. The road looks quite far on the map. Taking the train is actually quite fast. Of course, the most important thing is that Denikin announced that the Don River and the North Caucasus will join the Volga Federation, so Admiral Wu is considered to be in a friendly state.  The lower Qingqi rushed forward and headed straight to the south.

He almost won the first phase of the Southern Campaign without a fight. Isn¡¯t the Maykop Oil Field a treasure that the Commander-in-Chief never forgets? I guess it was because of this that General Wu moved the Front Army Headquarters southward to Yekaterino.  Dar!  Qian Tianfu explained with a smile.

"The Maykop Oilfield is of course important. There are only three oilfields in Russia. 80% of the production is in the Baku Oilfield in Azerbaijan. The rest are the Maykop Oilfield and the Grozny Oilfield. In the next stage of reorganization, we will form a large number of mechanized troops. There are no oilfields.  That¡¯s not a fool¡¯s errand. Not only must we capture the Maykop Oilfield, but we must also resume production as soon as possible. The Grozny Oilfield must also be captured!

Ethnic conflicts in the North Caucasus are prominent, and the strengths of various factions are complex. Maykop was occupied by the White Guards in advance because it was close to Denikin¡¯s base camp. The Chechen Autonomous Prefecture in the east is still in power by the local Soviets, and the White Guards are beyond their reach!

Krasnov and Denik only thought about going north to fight Tsaritsyn, but even the North Caucasus was not truly unified. Fortunately, Chechnya was a local Soviet controlled by leftist revolutionaries and Mensheviks. Without the Bolsheviks, nothing would happen!  We don¡¯t need to lose face with the Soviet Union!  "Wang Geng turned around a few times with his hands behind his back, feeling quite satisfied with Wu Peifu's enterprising spirit.

"Your Excellency, Commander-in-Chief, Denikin also sent a telegram, expressing his great honor for you to appoint him as the Chief of Staff of the Southern Front of the Allied Powers. However, he apologized to you because the Don and North Caucasus Autonomous Republic had just been established.  The troops of the former White Guards also need to be integrated, and the allied forces led by General Wu are stationed in various places. He also needs to actively cooperate with him. He cannot come to Samara for the time being. Please forgive me." Qian Tianfu looked at his hand.  Another telegram then reported.

"Denikin understands the overall situation, has the ability and prestige, and can control his subordinates. Seeing how he forced Krasnov to leave the field without any bloodshed, you know that this guy has a big plan. At this time, I guess Pepelli  Yaev can't sit still anymore. If this guy doesn't work hard to catch up, Denikin will catch up sooner or later in the Volga Federation!" Wang Geng said thoughtfully after hearing this.

"Commander-in-Chief, I just don't understand. Since Anton Ivanovich Denikin planned to join the Volga Federation, why did he and Krasnov reject the Volga Federation's ultimatum before and still established the Volga Federation that only existed for one day?  Since we have to deal with Krasnov in the Don River and North Caucasus Republic, why should we let him be the head of state in the Don River and North Caucasus Republic?" Qian Tianfu expressed the question in his heart.

Wang Geng laughed when he heard this, stretched out his hand and nodded his head and said,

"Lieutenant Colonel Qian, I'm afraid you, the chief staff officer of the war room, are not the only one who has this question. Let me tell you, the reason is actually very simple. Denikin is very good at being the second in command.  This can be seen from the fact that he served as the chief of staff of the commander-in-chief for three terms in the Kerensky Provisional Government.

In terms of ability, the commanders-in-chief of the Provisional Government are far inferior to Denikin, but this guy can sit still and knows that he will hit the first bird, so he will never want to stand in the most glorious position until the necessary moment.  It is also the most dangerous position!  !  "

"But didn't he later become the commander of the North Caucasus Volunteer Army and take over Kornivov's position?" Qian Tianfu said in confusion.

"Nonsense, this idiot Kornivov died under the gun of the Bolshevik guerrillas. If Denikin doesn't come out to turn the tide, who will take the lead? This guy has been serving as the chief of staff to the commander-in-chief Kornivov in Petersburg.  When Kornivov rebelled, this guy was also implicated, and he was imprisoned together with Kornivov. They later fled to the North Caucasus together to organize the local volunteer army against the Soviets and the Bolsheviks. If Kornivov had not died, Denikin would not have easily stepped onto the stage!  "Wang Geng explained patiently.

"So, this Denikin's city is very deep? So he was already the commander of the volunteers in the North Caucasus, but he took the initiative to put aside his status and go to the Don River to find Krasnov to unite, knead the White Guards in the two places into a whole, and also  For Krasnov?

And he continues to be the second in charge?  But Krasnov is alive and well this time. Why did he overthrow Krasnov and get on the front stage himself?  It¡¯s really hard to figure out this person¡¯s heart,¡± Qian Tianfu said, rubbing his head.

"This is what I admire about Denikin. He always has his own criteria for judging the future situation. You must know that Krasnov has a deep relationship with the Germans. He escaped from Petersburg and returned to La Don.  The first Cossack team was formed by the Germans who provided money, arms and food!

Denikin was different. Unlike Kornivov, he fled from Petersburg to the North Caucasus with the help of the Allied British and French envoys to Russia. Later, the North Caucasus Volunteer Army was also funded by Britain and France. Of course, we established a coalition and marched into the Urals.  After reaching the west of the mountains, Britain and France actually abandoned Denikin and threw all the mess on our shoulders!  "Wang Geng took out a cigar, and Mr. Qian Tian stepped forward and struck a match for his commander-in-chief.
