The famous "Von Richthofen Fighter Wing" almost ceased to exist after this war. The only thing to be thankful for is that the Red Baron's younger brother and the squadron leader of the 11th Fighter Squadron, Roth Albrecht  Lieutenant von Richthofen was able to return and survive, becoming one of the eight surviving German aces who participated in the July 29 air battle.

Although the coalition forces were unable to win this battle with more troops and fewer troops, after this battle, the coalition air force, which had withstood the test of war, became a world-class aviation force!  Chinese pilots have since become members of the ace club.

In this battle, the German 1st Fighter Wing lost 77 aircraft and 64 pilots were killed. Most of them were ace pilots of the Luftwaffe who shot down more than 5 aircraft. The Allied Air Force lost 68 aircraft and 38 pilots were killed. A few of them made forced landings.  , most of the parachutists who were shot down succeeded.

After this battle, the German army and Ukraine lost air supremacy over Ukraine. The Allied Air Force took one day to make itself the master of Ukraine under the blue sky and white clouds. It also laid the foundation and created conditions for the Southwest Front to launch the Ukrainian campaign. The Chinese Air Force has since  Standing among the world's top air forces.

    July 29, 1918 - 10:30 Samara Allied Forces Headquarters

"Commander-in-Chief, a telegram from the Belgorod Front Air Force Command. The air battle in the direction of Belgorod ended half an hour ago. The 1st and 2nd fighter-bomber wings of our army are flying from Belgorod.  In two waves of fierce air battles over Kharkov, 77 Fokker aircraft of the German 1st Fighter Wing were shot down. The opponent lost at least 60 pilots, most of whom were ace pilots. The Southwest Front ground troops captured prisoners and made an forced landing in the Volga Federation.  There are 16 German pilots in the territory! We won!¡±

The person who rushed into the war room to report was the chief staff officer of the war room, Colonel Qian Tianfu. The young colonel could not hide the excitement on his face, and he almost didn't shout "Ula" in front of his commander-in-chief.

Wang Gengteng stood up in the combat conference room. Apparently, the young commander-in-chief's previous calmness in front of Chief of Staff and Logistics Commander Jiang Hongyu, Deputy Chief of Staff Jiang Fangzhen and Tanaka Yiichi was just an act to calm the morale of the military.  Before Wang Geng could say anything, Jiang Hongyu jumped up excitedly and asked,

"Did you win? Really won? Hahahahaha, great! Commander-in-Chief, Brother Baili, General Tanaka, did you hear that? Our Allied Air Force once again defeated the German Ace Flying Wing!"

Here, Jiang Fangzhen and Tanaka Yiichi also stood up with excitement and grabbed the telegram from Qian Tianfu. Wanting to see what happened, Wang Geng, who had already paced back and forth in the war room, turned around and said,

"Are our losses big? If we add the 14 Fokkers shot down last night, Hermann Wilhelm Goering's 1st Fighter Wing has lost almost 6 squadrons. The sky of Ukraine belongs to us!" Allied Forces  After all, the Commander-in-Chief is still a 24-year-old young man. He usually displays a leadership style of making plans and scolding Fang Qiu, but now he is a little out of control with joy. After all, the pilots of the Allied Air Force only need three months of accelerated training.  He is a rookie, and he has not gained actual experience in large-scale air combat in the past six months of active flight. For the coalition air force, last night's air combat was just a surprise, with more hits and less, plus luck and suddenness.

This morning's air battle was the reflection and competition of the true level of both sides. Of course, Wang Geng does not intend to cultivate the demeanor of an aerial knight at this time. His only rule is to attack more and use less advanced equipment to defeat the laggards. Otherwise, it will be a 1vs1 duel.  If so, how could rookie trainees like me, who had never experienced the aerial strangulation battles on the Western Front, be the opponents of the German ace pilots?

You have to face reality, right?  If it is ground trench warfare, with the current firepower of the coalition ground forces, Wang Geng estimates that if the coalition forces and the main force of the German army confront each other, they can barely win the defense but not necessarily the offense. As for field battles, Wang Geng is not worried at all. After the Battle of Ufa,  The coalition forces have grown up, but the coalition air force is really blank in the field of air combat. In the past six months, there has been no opportunity for actual combat. However, the large formations have mastered the tactics of ground attack and air-ground coordination, and they tried it on a small scale in the Battle of Ufa.  The sword is also very smooth and effective.

Seeing Wang Geng asking about the casualties of the Allied Air Force, Jiang Fangzhen, who had already snatched the telegram from Qian Tianfu, looked at the telegram and said in a solemn tone,

"During the air battle throughout the morning, we lost 68 fighter planes and 38 pilots were killed or missing. The downed aircraft included 4 Chinese FR18s. Fortunately, they all crashed in the Volga Federation. The Southwest Front has sent ground search troops to search and rescue the pilots.  and wreckage, all must be recovered. In addition, the pilot who parachuted in Ukraine last night has been found by our infiltrated special operations team and is on his way back!"

"Okay! Chief of Staff, send a report to the Frontline Air Force Headquarters and Major General Huang Jingbo to congratulate the 1st and 2nd Fighter-Bomber Wings on their successful start under his leadership and the style of our coalition air force. These threeMonths of crash training and nearly half a year of active training were not in vain. They were asked to report the list of meritorious service personnel and martyrs as soon as possible. It was time for a group of Chinese ace pilots to emerge from this battle!  "

Wang Geng was walking back and forth in the war room while giving orders. As soon as Jiang Hongyu agreed, Wang Geng raised his head and said, "Send a telegram to the Domestic Army Department and apply for promotion of Huang Jingbo, Commander of the Allied Frontline Air Force, to the Army Central Committee.  General, was promoted to captain of the 2nd and 2nd Fighter Wings. By the way, these two guys were not shot down, were they? Was the German Lieutenant Hermann Wilhelm Goering of the 1st Fighter Wing opposite him shot down last night?  Are the guys Han Gang, Lin Fu, and Zhao Jiadi, who are winning the battle with the Allied Air Force, still okay?"

The deputy chief of staff of the coalition forces, General Tanaka Yoshida, was not to be outdone. He went over to read the telegram manuscript with Jiang Fang. He replied in slightly stiff Chinese, "Your Excellency, Commander-in-Chief, it seems that the bad news is that our side has been killed in action."  1 squadron captain, 3 squadron captains and 6 squadron captains. The good news is that the two squadron captains have all come back alive. The telegram said that Goering ran away. The three warriors you mentioned who performed meritorious service last night.  The name didn¡¯t seem to be mentioned on the telegram.¡±

Qian Tianfu, Jiang Hongyu and Jiang Fangzhen all frowned when they heard this. They did not expect that although the Allied Air Force won, the casualties among the cadres were not small. The commander-in-chief and squadron commander of the Allied Air Force were seriously injured.  The precious pimple would not be exchanged for the same amount of gold. I didn¡¯t expect that it would lose so much in one battle.
