The Old City of Saransk is a fortress built in 1667. The city walls are towering and very strong. However, as a fortress, the area of ??the old castle in the core city is not large, and the area of ??the new city surrounding the old castle is not small.  Tukhachev's group army headquarters is located in the old castle. In the past few days, this guy has been ordering five divisions of his group army to work with nearly 10,000 civilians to repair city defenses. Specifically, Furmanov's 2nd Infantry Division  The 1st Infantry Division guarding the north of the city and Xia Boyang's 1st Infantry Division guarding the east of the city were the primary attack directions of Kolchak's cavalry.

The defense line of each division is about five kilometers. In fact, this is also the size of the periphery of the new city of Saransk. The 3rd Saransk Infantry Division is arranged on the west defense line of the city, and the 4th Saransk Infantry Division is located to the south of the city.  As the reserve force of the group army is the 5th Saransk Infantry Division stationed at the core position of the castle.

At this time, Xia Boyang's main 1st Division and Furmanov's 2nd Division both had about 12,000 men, while the remaining three divisions each had just over 6,000 men. As for the artillery, there were only two pitiful artillery companies.  It was also pitiful, with each gun not exceeding half the base number of 30 rounds. The five infantry divisions only had three heavy machine gun battalions, which were assigned to one heavy machine gun battalion each of the 1st Infantry Division and the 2nd Infantry Division. The remaining three  Each division is assigned only one heavy machine gun company.

Of course, the group army headquarters also directly commanded a company equipped with 6 Maxim heavy machine guns. As the shrill sirens sounded throughout the city, the hurried Soviet Red Army soldiers were slightly panicked and led by their commanders.  The whole team gathered together and began to enter their respective positions, while Tukhachevsky quickly came to the headquarters compound and wanted to personally ask the company commander of the reconnaissance battalion that broke out how the enemy came and how many there were.

Of course, what made Tukhachevsky very angry was whether the commander of the cavalry reconnaissance battalion, Gurny Goli, died in the battle or was captured, and he did not escape this time?

"Where is your battalion commander? Where did you throw your battalion commander? How many White Guards have come? Can a Cossack cavalry regiment eat your battalion? Did Genikoli die in battle or was he captured? Tell me clearly!  "Tukhachevsky, with his hands behind his back and a sullen face, shouted at the cavalry company commander Pasboev who was standing at attention in front of him, sweating and panicking!

"Report to the commander, the enemy came from the north and east at the same time. It was at least the size of an advance cavalry regiment. The road behind was full of mountains and plains, and the dust covered half of the sky. The 3rd and 4th companies fell in the blink of an eye.  We asked the enemy's cavalry brigade to get in, and the battalion commander led our 1st and 2nd companies to break out desperately. After running for 5 kilometers, the Cossack White Guards were still chasing after us. The battalion commander was afraid of bringing the enemy directly into the city, but he made a mistake.  It¡¯s all over, you know what we call war horses when we have a patchwork of animals, it¡¯s just a cavalry battalion made up of a large mule and a small donkey.¡±

Pasboev, the commander of the 1st company of the group army's cavalry reconnaissance battalion, had sweat on his face and dust and mud on his face. Not to mention how embarrassed he was, he didn't have bullet bites or anything on his body. After being yelled at by his group army commander, this guy stood aside.  I was almost wiping away tears while talking!

"What do you mean, Gurny Goli will lead the 2nd company to stay behind to block the pursuers, and let you lead the 1st company to break out and rush back to the city to report the news?" Tukhachevsky growled through gritted teeth.

"Exactly like this, the battalion commander's animal's butt was hung with paint and it couldn't run away. He shouted to me, "First company commander, Comrade Pasboev, you have to stand out for me and give the troops to me even if you die.  Report!  I will lead 2 companies to block the enemy!  "As he said that, he turned the big mule and took the remaining brothers No. 7 and 80 of the 2nd company back to kill them. With his saber, he killed several Cossack cavalry who were chasing him."  My husband's voice was choked with sobs.

¡°What happened next?!¡± Tukhachevsky and Kobozev asked in unison.

"I didn't know it later. Cossack cavalry were all over the mountains and plains. In a blink of an eye, the battalion commander and the 2nd company were involved. However, this finally stopped the enemy. We then withdrew. The enemy pursued us for a while and saw that they were already there.  Approaching Saransk, the enemy turned back with a whistle! Most of the battalion commander and the 2nd company were sacrificed! "Pasiboev did not dare to touch Tukhachevsky's back.

The commander of the Army Cavalry Reconnaissance Battalion, Genikoli, was previously the company commander of the Army Cavalry Guard Company. Everyone is familiar with the legendary story of Genikoli in the Battle of Ufa. Under the order of Tukhachevsky, Genikoli  Leading a cavalry company to attack the defense line of Sterli Tamak town where a cavalry battalion of the Allied Allied Forces was stationed.

Under the intensive machine gun fire of the Allied cavalry, the cavalry company of more than 100 men fought until only the company commander Gurney was left. This man still launched the charge alone, and was later injured and fell off his horse and was captured. Later, 30,000 men were followed.  The prisoners of war who returned to Soviet Russia were required to be repatriated to the Volga Federation together. As soon as Tukhachevsky returned to the army, Gurny Goli, the lone hero, was promoted to the commander of the reconnaissance cavalry battalion of the group army!

Tukhachevsky felt depressed and fell into the hands of the White Guards.Being a prisoner is different from falling into the hands of the Allied Powers. The hatred between the Soviet Red Army and the White Guard was not forged in a day or two, and they were never polite to the other party's prisoners. Gurny Goli was a fiery man with a good riding skills.  The sword and saber are very beautiful. If you really kill more than a dozen of the opponent's cavalry, you'd better die in battle, but you will suffer the consequences if you fall into the hands of the Cossack cavalry!

Thinking of this, Tukhachevsky sighed and turned the topic back to the number of attacks by the White Guards. At this moment, Pasboev was relieved. Of course, the battalion commander fell into the enemy's position after breaking up, but he himself  After he ran back, his indiscriminate superiors might have shot him as a deserter. Since this guy's life was not in danger, he became more eloquent and reported,

"Commander, I saw it. The Cossack cavalry coming from the north is carrying the flag of the 3rd Cossack Cavalry Division. Their totem is a white wolf head embroidered on the flag. The cavalry all wear black Cossack cloaks and carry  High hats, the Cossack cavalry outflanking from the east were under the banner of the 4th Division. Their totem was a black bat. They did not wear a black cloak, but they held a saber in one hand and a Mosin-Nagant rifle in the other. Battalion Commander  The big walking mule was injured by the White Guard cavalry from the east, and the turtle son was so accurate when he was riding a horse! "

"Does the opponent only have the designation of 2 divisions? Didn't you capture the prisoners and ask?" Kobozev, political commissar and chief of staff of the group army, asked from the side.
