Among the cavalry regiments belonging to the three divisions of the Japanese 3rd Army, one cavalry regiment has three cavalry brigades and one cavalry artillery brigade. Each cavalry brigade has four cavalry squadrons, and one cavalry squadron has three cavalry squadrons.  Cavalry squad, a squad is 70 people!  It turns out that a squadron of Japanese cavalry can only manage two cavalry squads, and the number of troops inside and outside is only one-third less. Therefore, the Japanese cavalry in the coalition is much stronger and more substantial than in Japan.  §êw§ëFirst, 138 reading books

The cavalry brigade of the 4th Japanese Cavalry Regiment, plus the brigade directly under the brigade headquarters, each brigade has about 850 troops. The total of the three cavalry brigade has 2550 people. In addition, the cavalry artillery brigade of the regiment has 3 artillery squadrons 4  75mm Type 41 mountain guns and 8 75mm Type 38 field guns. As a member of the 4-unit packhorse division, the artillery brigade of the 4th Yonezawa Cavalry Regiment plus logistics has a headcount of 999 people and 720 horses.  .  ",

Coupled with the reconnaissance cavalry squadron directly under the wing, the total strength of Yonezawa Kogoro's 4th Cavalry Regiment is around 4,000. The nearly 300 cavalrymen of the 4th Regiment who were attrited in the Battle of Ufa are already in the Allied Southwest Front.  After establishment, all reserves will be used to make up for it.

Each cavalry squad of the 4th Japanese Cavalry Regiment is equipped with two coalition platoon-affiliated 60mm mortars and three Browning squad machine guns, and each cavalry squadron is equipped with an air-cooled Browning heavy machine gun.  Each brigade also has an 8-gun 81mm caliber mortar squad.  ""look

The 4th Yonezawa Cavalry Regiment only has a 300-man engineer squadron, which makes his troops unable to build bridges as quickly as the 3rd Engineer Regiment and the 23rd Muto Infantry Brigade that built bridges across the Kharkov River.  In comparison, because the Yudi and Lopan rivers are located in plains and hilly areas, unlike the Kharkiv River that flows along the edge of the forest, the engineers of the Yoneza Regiment cannot cut trees nearby. The 4th Cavalry Regiment  The difficulties ahead are obviously quite considerable.

"Your Excellency, Captain, I think we have to change our thinking. There is no chance of getting close to the city of Kharkiv. Even if we want to build a bridge, we are short of materials. The day lilies brought from the upper reaches are cold, and we are now  The location is also too close to the city of Kharkov. Look at the artillery battle that went back and forth all day and night yesterday. The German and Ukrainian artillery was definitely not a display. The artillery brigade of the 6th Infantry Regiment of the Kikuchi Brigade was completely wiped out.  Major Isokawa was killed in battle, which should arouse our vigilance. It is not the best idea for us to build a bridge and cross the river under the eyes of the enemy!"

Yamashita Fengwen was also unambiguous and straightforwardly stated his judgment of the situation. Under normal circumstances, the 4th Cavalry Regiment would either build a bridge on the Yudi River without the enemy's eyes, and directly insert it under the city of Kharkov.  The distance from the Di River to the northwest corner of Kharkiv is less than 3 kilometers. Building a bridge must be within the enemy's artillery attack range. If the enemy really doesn't want you to build a bridge, just use the 75mm Krupp field cannon.  You can't stand if you can blast it.

Therefore, Captain Yonezawa's original plan was to build a bridge on the Lopan River about 6 kilometers away from the western position of Kharkov. This place is almost beyond the maximum attack range of the defenders' artillery in Kharkov, and the safety factor is  Sufficient guarantee, the difficulty is that there are no large woods nearby, and there is a lack of on-site logging materials. In several villages along the river, all the young and middle-aged Ukrainian people have basically disappeared, leaving only a few local elderly people, women and children.

"Haven't the engineers already selected the place to build the bridge on the Lopan River? You and I both went to see that place in person. Although the river is a bit wider, fortunately the water flow is still gentle. There should be no problem in building the bridge. It's just the materials.  It¡¯s a bit difficult not to take advantage of it¡¡±

Regiment commander Yonezawa Kogoro is obviously a prudent person. In fact, one of the important tasks given to the 4th Cavalry Regiment by the former enemy headquarters of the Central Route Army is to create a big momentum through detours and outflanks, distracting and involving the defenders in Kharkov City  The attention and strength of the troops will create better conditions for the main siege on the northern front.

Kogoro Yonezawa was born in Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture in 1877. He was the fifth son of Kanee Yonezawa, a feudal lord of the Yonezawa clan. He graduated from the cavalry department in the 20th class of the University of Japan and was only one short of being able to get close to the top student of the saber class.  In the ranks of the Yonezawa clan, he must be considered an outstanding disciple of the Yonezawa clan.

Yonezawa was promoted to cavalry captain before graduating from RKU in November 1908. He then served successively as captain of the 4th Cavalry Regiment, member of the General Staff Headquarters, and deputy military attache of the Legation in the UK. Five years after graduating from RKU, Yonezawa was promoted to cavalry major, and then  Two years later, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel. When Japan's 3rd Army formed the Siberian Expedition Force, he was promoted to cavalry colonel and served as captain of the 4th Cavalry Regiment.

Although the Yonezawa Domain is located in Tohoku, it was also the place where the Uesugi family and Naoe Kane continued to become famous. During the late Tokugawa period, the Yonezawa Domain joined the Ou Etsurie Domain Alliance to fight against the new government forces. The Yonezawa Domain was at the border of Dewa and Echigo  Dali Pass surrendered and sent troops to attack Shonai Domain.  The territory was reduced to only 147,000 koku due to its resistance to the new government.

In 1869, it merged with Yonezawa Nitta Domain.  In 1871, it became Yonezawa Prefecture due to the abolition of feudal lordship and establishment of prefectures. After the merger of prefectures, it became part of Yamagata Prefecture.  In 1884, the feudal lord's family became a member of the Chinese family.son.

Since the end of the Tokugawa War ended with the victory of the overthrown Choshu and Satsuma clans, the Yonezawa clan, which had previously joined the Ou Etsurie clan alliance, surrendered early, but was still the suppressed opponent after the war.  The merger of the Ta clan, the abolition of the clan and the establishment of a prefecture, and the annexation from Yonezawa Prefecture to become part of Yamagata Prefecture were all caused by being on the wrong side during the previous fall.

Yonezawa Kogoro, who was born in the declining Yonezawa clan, graduated from the 20th semester of the mainland university in seventh place. In just ten years, he was promoted from captain, major, lieutenant to captain of the cavalry regiment, becoming a 41-year-old  The captain of the cavalry regiment, Yonezawa Kogoro can be regarded as an absolutely smooth-sailing young officer. If nothing happens, even if he waits for another 6 years to become a general, Yonezawa Kogoro will still be worthy of Yonezawa's hometown elders.

Of course, due to the formation of the Allied Forces on the Eastern Front and the combat operations west of the Ural Mountains, the soldiers of the Japanese 3rd Army and the 1st Army will have more opportunities to make contributions and be promoted than their colleagues in the domestic standing divisions, Yonezawa  This guy¡¯s idol is Shunroku Hata, who was promoted to major general at the age of 39, so he didn¡¯t dare to show any slights to Captain Yamashita Tomomiya, who came to serve as the regiment attachment at the age of 33. He knew that Yamashita was the favorite candidate for the staff of the commander of the 3rd Army, Taro Utsunomiya.  The future is limitless. Sooner or later, you will have to go back to the headquarters for promotion after being transferred to a lower level. Therefore, it is best to make good connections with others at this time.
