July 31, 1918 13:10 Japanese Infantry 23rd Brigade Headquarters in the forest east of Kharkiv City

"Reporting to the brigade commander Okabe Brigade and Jianchuan Brigade have not yet detoured back to their planned positions. There are no ready-made roads in the forest, and there are swamps and muddy ponds everywhere. It is very difficult for the troops to move!" A combat staff officer from the Japanese brigade and regiment headquarters took a hand  2 call back reports received!

At this time, fierce gunfire suddenly rang out from three directions at the same time in the east, mixed with the roar and explosion of the German-made 7.6cm infantry mortar, which surprised the Japanese generals in the brigade headquarters.  The leader Muto grabbed the telescope and rushed out of the big tent. However, the forest blocked the field of view, and the sound was that the defense lines of the two brigades 1.5 kilometers to the east were attacked by the Ukrainians at the same time. Fastest update

"Reporting to the brigade commander, the front-line Xiangzui Brigade and Duomen Brigade reported at the same time that the Ukrainians dispatched at least three infantry regiments to attack our army positions on both sides of the road. The two sides are now fighting fiercely. Xiangzui Brigade and Duomen Brigade  The door brigade requested the brigade artillery to provide tactical guidance" The person chasing out of the tent to report was the 19th Infantry Regiment's wing attached

At this moment, the brigade chief of staff, Takagi Yoshinari, is personally supervising the logistics and transportation troops in the west to rush to transport ammunition, while the captain of the 19th Infantry Regiment, Arai Tatsuya, is on the front line inspecting the defense lines of the Kozui Brigade and the Domon Brigade, temporarily acting as Muto's assistant.  But it is the 19th Infantry Regiment's Regiment Aki Kawashima Yoshitsune who is updated the fastest

Yoshiyuki Kawashima is a native of Ehime Prefecture and the eldest son of Kawashima You.  He graduated from Ehime Prefectural Normal Junior High School and is now Ehime Prefectural Matsuyama Higashi High School.  On November 25, 1898, he graduated from the 10th Infantry Section of the Army Non-Commissioned Officer School. On June 27 of the following year, he was awarded the rank of second lieutenant of the infantry and was appointed as an attached soldier of the 22nd Infantry Regiment.

Because of the Russo-Japanese War, Kawashima Yoshiyuki dropped out of the 20th period of the Army University on February 9, 1904, and participated in the full text reading of the Russo-Japanese War.  During the Russo-Japanese War, he served as adjutant of the 12th Infantry Regiment Supplementary Brigade, adjutant of the 11th Reserve Infantry Brigade, and adjutant of the 1st Remaining Infantry Division. He was wounded in the Russo-Japanese War.  Mainland University resumed school on March 20, 1906. On November 30, 1908, he graduated from the 20th class of Army University with honors.  Kawashima, this class, is just sixth among the top six in the saber group.

After graduating from Mainland China, Kawashima served as a lecturer in the Directorate of Education and went to Germany to study military affairs. He was attached to the German Embassy as an auxiliary military attache, a lecturer in the Directorate of Education, and attached to the 65th Infantry Regiment. At the end of 1917, he was promoted to Infantry Lieutenant Colonel and transferred to the Infantry.  Attached to the 19th Regiment of the 23rd Brigade.

Following Kawashima, the 40-year-old Lieutenant Colonel of the 19th Infantry Regiment, who rushed out of the tent, was the major captain of the 55th Infantry Regiment, Furushuo Yoshiro. This major who graduated from the 21st batch of the Mainland University was surprised.  The report said,

"Your Excellency, the brigade commander, we have just received a notification from the former enemy headquarters that the coalition air force bomber group will arrive over Kharkov in 15 minutes. Lieutenant General Otani asked if our brigade needs tactical guidance from the air force!"

The coalition air force that both the offensive and defensive sides have been waiting for will finally appear in the sky over Kharkov again!

July 31, 1918 13:15 2nd Fighter-Bomber Wing of the Allied Air Force over Kharkov

For the battlefield commanders on both sides of the war, the second wave of air strikes by the coalition air force that day was obviously belatedly. At this time, almost four hours had passed since the first wave of air strikes in the morning.  The air raid began at around 8 a.m. and lasted for nearly an hour. However, the pilots of the coalition air force began preparations for takeoff at around 7 a.m., and ground maintenance, refueling, and ammunition loading began as early as 5:30 a.m.  ¡

In this way, after resting all night last night, the Allied Allied Forces Air Force took off from two front-line field airports in Belgorod and Rylisk before 7:30 this morning. The air force of a dh4 reconnaissance bomber group completed the formation.  Under the escort of an SE5 fighter group, a fierce air attack was carried out on the northern defense line of Kharkov. This was because after the bomber group of the Allied Air Force returned the previous day, the SE5 fighter squadron that remained over the Kharkov battlefield was on the ground.  Under the threat of heavy machine gun anti-aircraft fire, they were unable to continue their ground attacks to kill the German heavy artillery positions.

Therefore, this morning's air strike by the coalition air force carried a hint of revenge and catharsis. Huang Jingbo, commander of the coalition's frontline air force, personally led a squadron of fr18 Excellent fighter-bombers at an altitude of 3,000 meters to command the Kharkov city defense throughout the morning.  Although Taro Utsunomiya and Jiro Oba had previously wanted to destroy the city as little as possible, after yesterday afternoon's artillery battle and night raid counter-night raid, the ban on air raids and artillery strikes on the city of Kharkiv  has been completely abandoned.

The attack on the enemy's heavily defended city paid the price of blood and fire of the coalition infantry, without any tenderness or appeasement. What the coalition air force could do in the air attack was not to bomb churches, schools and hospitals, but to violently bomb churches, schools and hospitals.  Even bombs under air strikes may not always have eyes. Will the shock wave of an aerial bomb landing and exploding accidentally injure civilians??A lot of times I can't take care of that much.

By the end of July, the Eastern Front Allied Air Force of the Allied Powers had deployed the 1st and 2nd Fighter-Bomber Wings and the 3rd Heavy Bomber Wing on the Ukrainian front, and was competing with the German 1st Fighter Wing stationed in Ukraine.  In the "7.29 Great Air Battle" for air supremacy, the 1st Fighter-Bomber Wing of the Frontline Air Force, originally stationed at four airports in Belgorod, Voronezh and Kursk Krelisk, suffered heavy casualties. In a fierce battle that lasted one night and one day,  At the cost of nearly 70 fighter planes being shot down.

Although later, with the support of the 2nd Fighter-Bomber Wing of the Allied Air Force, which came for reinforcements, it completely defeated the German 1st Fighter Wing commanded by Hermann Wilhelm Goering, shooting down a total of 77 German fighter planes, but the Allied forces  The 1st Fighter-Bomber Wing was also withdrawn for rest and recovery due to excessive losses. The heavy burden of taking over the 1st Fighter-Bomber Wing's air support mission for the Southwest Front's Central Route Army fell on the 2nd Fighter-Bomber Wing.

The 2nd Fighter-Bomber Wing of the Allied Frontline Air Force has 1 SE5 fighter group, 1 DH4 reconnaissance bomber group and 1 Chinese FR18 Excellent fighter-bomber group. The entire wing has 124 aircraft. The wing headquarters and the Chinese FR18 Excellent Fighter Group  The 2nd Fighter-Bomber Group moved from Tsaritsyn to Voronezh, the SE5 2nd Fighter Group moved from Kamenskshahezinsky to Belgorod, and the dh4 2nd Reconnaissance Bomber Group also moved from Rostov-on-Don.  Arrive at Rylisk and Belgorod.
