"Instead of entering the city, I plan to have the carriage of the regiment's reconnaissance company hang up behind the 140th regiment's troop transport train, so that they can set off 20 minutes earlier than the main force of the regiment. When our regiment goes north, your battalion takes the lead, and the flat carriages behind it  Just load Captain Keitel's 141st Artillery Battalion, followed closely by the regimental headquarters, 422nd Battalion and 423rd Battalion" Major von Lieb finally determined the order in which the troops would advance and the expected fighting style.

The acting commander of the 141st Infantry Regiment, Major Wilhelm Ritter von Lieb, did not have his own personal adjutant at the moment. His adjutant went down to the army to bring the regiment's motorized reconnaissance company, and the combat section chief of the 140th Regiment, Al.  Like Captain Bethe Kesselring, the combat section chief of the 141st Infantry Regiment was also the adjutant of the regiment commander and the current commander of the regiment's motorized reconnaissance company, Captain Maximilian von Weix.

The 37-year-old Maximilian von Weichs (1881~1954) was born into a civilian family.  Joined the army in 1900.  On January 31, 1943, he was awarded the rank of Field Marshal.  Graduated from the Bavarian Military Academy.  He has served as acting commander of the 7th Military Region, commander of the 13th Military Region, commander of the 2nd Army Group, commander-in-chief of Army Group B, commander-in-chief of Army Group F, and commander of the German Army in the Southeast Balkans.  Participated in World War I and World War II.  He was awarded the Iron Cross Second Class, the Iron Cross First Class, and the Knight's Medal of the Iron Cross.

Weichs was born in Dessau on November 12, 1881. His father was the groom of the Duke of Anhalt.  In 1900, Weix graduated from high school and joined the army, serving in the Bavarian Heavy Cavalry Regiment stationed in Landshut.  He was promoted to second lieutenant in 1902 and served as regimental adjutant two years later. He was later transferred to serve in an equestrian school.  In 1910, he entered the Bavarian Military Academy for training. After graduation, he was sent to the command center of the General Staff Headquarters in Bavaria.  Promoted to cavalry captain in March 1914.

In August 1914, World War I broke out, and Weikes went to the front line with the Bavarian Cavalry Division.  In October, he was transferred to the adjutant of the 4th Cavalry Brigade and fought in Lorraine and Flanders.  In May 1915, he was transferred to the second staff officer of the 5th Infantry Division and participated in the fierce battle of Champigny, the positional battles of the Meuse and Mosel rivers, as well as the battles in Artois, Flanders and Arras.

At the end of July in this time and space in 1918, the 37-year-old Captain Maximilian von Weickers, although wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, was a member of the 141st Infantry Regiment. Although this guy was from a Duke's family  He was born the son of a groom, but his series of outstanding performances after joining the army were clearly worthy of the word "von" given to him by the Duke in his name.

The full name of this heroic general of the 141st Reserve Infantry Regiment is very long, Maximilian Maria Joseph Karl Gabriel Lamoral Reichs Freiherr von Weickers Zu Ge  Long (German: maximilianmariajosephkarlgabriella touch ralreichsfreiheronweichszuglon, November 12ri Dessau, 1881 June 27ri Bonn, 1954).

At this moment when his regiment commander was still discussing the combat plan with the chief of staff, the artillery battalion commander, and the 1st Battalion commander, Captain von Weikes was searching all over the world for wagonsor military trucks, although the main force of the regiment needed to wait for them to arrive.  Only the troop train arriving from Yekaterinoslav could move north along the railway line, but the 37-year-old Captain von Weikes and his reconnaissance company did not have the patience to wait.

Although Captain von Weikes leads a motorized reconnaissance company, as a reserve infantry division, even the motorized reconnaissance company cannot be equipped with fully mechanized equipment. He only has three Daimler one-and-a-half-ton military vehicles in his hands.  Trucks, 6 Mercedes-Benz three-wheeled motorcycles, and the rest are ten horse-drawn carts. The direct reconnaissance company of the 141st Infantry Regiment is basically a force pieced together from the motorized platoons of three infantry battalions.

The load capacity of the three sets of vehicles is between 800 kilograms and 1 ton, which means that it is normal for a large vehicle to carry one infantry squad, but it is difficult to carry two infantry squads It is more of wishful thinking, of course Captain von Weikes  He had no intention of letting his motorized reconnaissance company travel 80 kilometers on motorized vehicles to reach the front line of the Lopan River Bridge south of Kharkiv In that case, regardless of whether his troops could reach the battlefield in time, they would just arrive.  The battlefield was also exhausted and it was difficult to enter the battle quickly.

For Captain von Weickers, a descendant of the Duke's groom chief, leading mobile troops to advance was the former cavalry captain's specialty. If it weren't for the fact that long-distance raids by war horses place too high demands on mounts and backup mounts, von.  It's not like Weikes hasn't thought about converting the motorized reconnaissance company into a cavalry reconnaissance company At least that way, it would be much less dependent on roads and fuel.

Since the oil priority was given to the trucks of the artillery unit, the remaining oil for the three trucks and six three-wheeled motorcycles under Captain von Weickers was only enough to drive 60 kilometers, or at most 80 kilometers. That meant that unless he could  If there is no fuel, or find a wagon and a flatbed carriage to replace his motorized vehicle, otherwise he will arrive along the road to the southern suburbs of Kharkov, and immediately become a pure infantry rather than a motorized force, because the fuel-depleted vehicle  The mobility is equal to zero.

Since the military supplies and fuel of the German-Austrian Allies gave priority to the main force on the Western Front, they also gave priority to the German Air Force and artillery units, motorized infantry and infantry on the Eastern Front. The gasoline quota allocated to the fleet is quite limited.

Whether it is the German 10th Army in Ukraine or the three reserve infantry divisions of the 29th Reserve Infantry Army, infantry is the specialty of this German army, and its degree of motorization is much worse than the main German infantry divisions on the Western Front.  , under normal organization, each German infantry battalion will have a motorized platoon and a heavy machine gun company, but now this motorized platoon occupies the organization of the reconnaissance company directly under the regiment, because there are only so many vehicles

What's more, the mission of the German 10th Army in Ukraine is to assist Simon Petryura's Ukrainian national defense and hold Ukraine. As a defensive side, it relies on trenches, fortifications, positions, aircraft and artillery, rather than motorized troops and gasoline  Gasoline was given priority to the main force on the Western Front and the main infantry army on the Eastern Front, while the 47th Infantry Division commanded by Major General Sven von Neuhaus was nothing more than a second-line reserve infantry division.
