Okamoto Renichiro's team was frightened by the swamp behind them, so when a regiment of Ukrainians appeared in front of them to attack them, Lieutenant Colonel Okamoto chose to charge forward, and he attacked a squadron of troops first without moving.  , and then another squadron was added, but it still couldn't be chewed. The Ukrainian mortar shells were as dense as rain, and the two squadrons that chased Okamoto into the attack were driven back to the swamp.

The situation became serious next. Before Okamoto could wave the main force of the entire infantry brigade to rush forward, the Ukrainians in front of them were the first to receive reinforcements, and the numbers of two enemy infantry regiments appeared on the opposite side

Only then did Lieutenant Colonel Okamoto feel that the situation was serious, but before he could give the order to retreat, another group of Ukrainians came from the back of the swamp and took the retreat of Okamoto's brigade. The number turned out to be the third one from the 4th Ukrainian Infantry Division.  regiment Lieutenant Kumagai volunteered to lead his squadron to attack backwards, trying to open a bloody path for the brigade between the two swamps. As a result, two consecutive attacks failed, and the third time the Ukrainians actually took the lead Lieutenant Kumagai was killed in action.  Got it!

Okamoto had no other way out except to shrink his troops and establish a position and start to defend. What surrounded him was the strength of three main regiments of the 4th Ukrainian Infantry Division. Fortunately, the Ukrainian National Army's artillery suffered more than half casualties and the ammunition was exhausted.  Otherwise, even if Okamoto has three heads and six arms, he will not be able to withstand the attack of an opponent with ten times more troops than himself

But don't even think about breaking through I don't know what kind of chicken blood the 4th Ukrainian Infantry Division used. It surrounded the Okamoto brigade and attacked in turns. It was clear that they wanted to completely annihilate this group and move away from the main force.  Fortunately, Lieutenant Colonel Okamoto's troops relied on machine guns and mortar firepower to defend the nearly a thousand Japanese troops. The casualties of the attacking Ukrainians were more than double that of the defending Okamoto brigade  . .

But the Ukrainians just refused to withdraw Okamoto Renichiro couldn't withdraw even if he wanted to Behind them were two large swamps, and in front they were surrounded by two Ukrainian infantry regiments, and the passage in the middle of the swamp was  The infantry regiment that was outflanked by the opponent was tightly blocked Lieutenant Kumagai was killed

No matter how arrogant Okamoto Renichiro was, he had to send a telegram to the brigade headquarters asking for tactical guidance Of course, this guy didn't expect that the brigade commander Muto Nobuyoshi, his boss, would be so cruel that he would not send ground troops.  Come to relieve yourself, just ask yourself to hold on for half an hour. By then, the brigade artillery will use artillery to disperse the Ukrainians surrounding him after it has reached sufficient range. In addition, the main force of Lu Huanyan's armored regiment will also come up as reinforcements from the east.  , then the Okamoto Brigade will not only be able to relieve the siege, but also participate in the battle to encircle and annihilate the three main Ukrainian divisions!

Whether Okamoto agrees or not, he has to grit his teeth and stick to it

In just half an hour from 15:30 to 16:00 in the afternoon, it was a huge test for the rest of Okamoto's brigade. Although he shyly sent a telegram to the brigade headquarters that the brigade was surrounded by the main force of a Ukrainian division and was in a deadly battle.  , but Japanese Army commanders at all levels have always had a tradition, that is, whether asking for help or asking for help, it is called asking superiors or neighboring troops for tactical guidance. Lieutenant Colonel Okamoto, as the only one in the 19th Infantry Regiment of the Mutoh Brigade,  An infantry captain with the rank of lieutenant general, this guy put down his dignity and asked for help from the brigade and regiment headquarters out of necessity after falling into a desperate situation

The three Ukrainian infantry regiments surrounded the Okabe brigade like three walls. Behind them were two huge swamps on the two wings. The Okabe brigade's ammunition consumption increased sharply as they clashed from left to right, and so did the casualties.  In addition to the 224th Infantry Squadron guarding the core position, which still maintains a combat strength of nearly 200 people, the other 221st, 222nd and 223rd Infantry Squadrons guarding the three corners have suffered nearly 30% casualties. The 221st Infantry Squadron at the rear is in Xiong Valley.  After the death of the lieutenant, nearly half of the casualties were almost impossible to hold the position. If the two swamps had not become a natural obstacle, which hindered the retreat of the Japanese army and also blocked the Ukrainians' attempt to outflank the two wings, the squadron leader had been lost.  The 221st Bear Valley Infantry Squadron is estimated to have collapsed long ago

The Japanese Okamoto Brigade, which was exhausted and in dire straits, could only persist because of a call back from the brigade and regiment headquarters saying that as long as it persisted for half an hour, reinforcements would arrive Lieutenant Commander Okamoto was the second-ranked graduate of the 21st Saber Team of the Mainland University.  A top student, this guy's basic tactical literacy and commanding ability are by no means bad, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to persist for so long under the siege of Ukrainians ten times his size. However, after receiving a call back from the brigade and regiment headquarters, this guy put it aside.  The good news that reinforcements are about to arrive was conveyed to each squadron position

While looking at the muddy and wrinkled military map, he muttered. Captain Jutaro Amakasu of the 56th Infantry Brigade next to him wiped his sweat and whispered, "Captain, the situation is critical The main force of the brigade is far away.  It's more than ten kilometers to the southwest, and the Jianchuan Brigade closest to us on the northern line is also nearly ten kilometers away. How can reinforcements arrive in half an hour? "

"Bagathe brigade headquarters said reinforcements will arrive in half an hour, then reinforcements will definitely arrive in half an hourGet there If you join the brigade, don't mess with our military morale!  "Although Lieutenant Colonel Okamoto felt a little thump in his heart, he lowered his voice and scolded his deputy.

Speaking of which, the person who just led the team organized by the regiment to reinforce and stabilize the position of the 221st Infantry Squadron was not Okamoto's deputy, Captain Jutaro Amakasu. This guy and the fallen Lieutenant Keiichi Kumagai were members of the 29th Infantry Squadron.  Of course, Jutaro Amakasu, who graduated with honors in the Saber Division, was promoted to Army Captain and served as Lieutenant Colonel Okamoto's deputy in less than half a year, and was promoted faster than Lieutenant Kumagai.
