    July 14, 1918 20:00 Moscow Kremlin

"Tsaritsin called back!" It was Dzerzhinsky who hurried into the conference room. While waiting for the reply from Tsaritsin and the Southern Front for an hour, the atmosphere in the large conference room of the Soviet Central Committee in Moscow was quite depressing.  , the cloud of failure hung over the hearts of every Central Committee member present.  .  .

Sdervyov was a little tired after taking the train for a day and a night, so he had found a room to catch up on his sleep. The night air in Moscow in mid-July was fresh and dry, and the daytime temperature of more than 20 degrees had dropped to 15 degrees.  Looking like this, Cheka head Dzerzhinsky naturally went to the telecommunications room to guard the radio station after Sdervyov went to rest.

Although the Cheka has already distinguished itself in a series of counter-revolutionary and intelligence spying work, Dzerzhinsky's ranking in the Central Committee of the Soviet Union is obviously quite low, not to mention the likes of Ulyanov and Trotsky.  Pillars and bosses.

Even Kamenev, Zinoviev, Bukharin, Stelvyov, as well as Joseph and Bubnov who were far away in Tsaritsyn, all ranked higher than Dzerzhinsky in the Bolshevik Party  Many, this is closely related to Dzerzhinsky's early experience.

Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky was born in Minsk Province, Belarus under the rule of Tsarist Russia in 1877, to a family of Polish aristocratic landowners and intellectuals. In his youth, Dzerzhinsky devoted himself to the development of Poland and Lithuania.  revolutionary movement.  When he was a student in Vilnius, he was expelled from the school for participating in revolutionary activities.

In 1895, he joined the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, a communist group, and in 1900 he became one of the founders of the Social Democratic Party of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania.  During the revolution, Dzerzhinsky was arrested several times and exiled to Siberia.

This man escaped twice. After arriving in Berlin, he participated in the 1905 revolution again, but was arrested after the failure.  Shortly after his release in 1912, he was imprisoned in a Moscow prison for revolutionary activities.  He was released in 1917 and immediately joined the Bolshevik Party.

Dzerzhinsky's loyal and honest character quickly gained recognition from the organization and Ulyanov, and earned him the nickname "Iron Felix". In just one year, Dzerzhinsky  Key climbed from an ordinary Bolshevik party member to a high position as a member of the Soviet Central Committee. After the October Revolution, Dzerzhinsky served as the People's Commissar of Internal Affairs of the Soviet Union.

With the support of Ulyanov, Dzerzhinsky was responsible for forming and leading the All-Russian Extraordinary Committee to Eliminate Counterrevolution and Sabotage - often referred to as Cheka (Russian abbreviation §£§¹k).

The Cheka received vast amounts of resources and began a ruthless crackdown on any perceived counterrevolutionary elements in the country.  As the Russian Civil War expanded, Dzerzhinsky also began to form domestic security forces to strengthen the Cheka's authority, and Ulyanovsky gave them tremendous power.

The Cheka agency resulted in thousands of "political opponents" being shot without trial across Russia. The targets of execution were not limited to political opponents. Many people were shot just because they were intellectuals, industrialists or priests.

One of Dzerzhinsky¡¯s mantras: ¡°What we represent is self-organized terrorism¡ªthis must be made clear first.¡± He also publicly stated, ¡°Red terror includes the implementation of terror politics, arrests  and eliminate class enemies, their class alliances, and their role in the pre-revolutionary period.¡±

However, at this moment, the Cheka and Dzerzhinsky, which had only been established for 8 months, were only tools for the Bolshevik Party to eradicate the hidden enemies of the Soviet regime to the members of the Soviet Central Committee. They must not confuse the Soviet and the  The Bolshevik Party, the Bolsheviks were a minority in the Soviets in the early days, and the Soviets in many places were not in the hands of the Bolsheviks at all.

Later, through three revolutions and the bloody incident of dispersing the Constituent Assembly in January 1918, the Bolsheviks became the main ruling party in control of the Soviets. The Socialist Revolutionaries, Mensheviks, and Left Socialist Revolutionaries either chose to fall into the arms of the Bolsheviks or were eliminated.  and eliminate them, or escape to establish a white regime and fight against the red Soviet Russia.

Of course, although Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky is 41 years old, he is a senior revolutionary, a junior Bolshevik member, and a taciturn person who ranks low in the Soviet Central Committee.  In Wang Geng's previous life, it was not until Ulyanov died and Joseph came to power that the Cheka and Dzerzhinsky became terrorist organizations that became extremely popular within the Bolshevik Party.

Dzerzhinsky hurriedly pushed the door into the large conference room of the Kremlin Palace with the telegram in his hand. He frowned and said, "Comrades, Tsaritsin has called back. Yegorov's Ninth Army has indeed arrived."  It failed, but the Former Enemy Military Committee of the North Caucasus Military District and the Former Enemy Military Committee of the Southern Front still refused to abandon the area south of Saratov and Tsaritsyn!¡±

The Central Committee members in the conference room were mentally prepared for the previous news, but for YeAfter the Gorov Group Army was completely wiped out, Tsaritsin was surprised that he still refused to give in.

Since Ulyanov and Trotsky, the two bosses of the Soviet Central Committee, were discussing something quietly in a corner of the conference room, the People's Commissar of Propaganda of the Soviet Central Committee and Pravda were in the conference room.  Editor-in-Chief Bukharin jumped up from his chair first, took two steps forward and snatched the telegram from Dzerzhinsky's hand. He walked under the lamp and scanned the telegram in his hand, while reading loudly:

The Revolutionary Military Committee of the North Caucasus Military District and the Former Enemy Military Committee of the Southern Front of the Soviet Red Army

From Tsaritsin to the Moscow Central Committee and the Supreme Revolutionary Military Council of the Soviet

Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov and Lev Davidovich Trotsky

The urgent telegram from Moscow at 19:30 on July 14, 1918 has been received. According to the last telegram we received from Yegorov's Army Group, we have to confirm to you that Yegorov and his Army Group  This evening, they were surrounded and annihilated by the superior strength of the Ufa coalition forces.

After a heroic battle, the entire Ninth Army suffered more than half of its casualties. Under forced circumstances, the remaining wounded became prisoners of the coalition forces, including the main leaders of the group, Yegorov and Knyagnitsky, as well as members of several infantry divisions.  The division commanders and political commissars were all lined up.

The only thing that gives people some hope is that Semyon Mikhailovich Budyonny and the main force of his cavalry division broke through the encirclement, jumped out of the last line of defense deployed by the coalition forces in Buzuluk, and entered Kazakhstan southward.  In the steppe, Yegorov and his political commissar had the opportunity to break out with the cavalry division, but the army commander refused and chose to lead the remaining main force of the infantry division in a bloody battle to the end.

The Caucasus Military District and the Southern Front Headquarters are looking forward to the brave Budyonny and his cavalry division returning to the left bank of the Volga River and Tsaritsyn as soon as possible. From them, we will further learn the truth about the defeat of the entire Ufa Battle.  .

Comrades here, I refer to the Military Commissioners of the Military Committee of the Former Enemies of the Southern Front, including myself, of course, we all agree that the performance of the Ninth Army of the Southern Front Egorov during the entire Battle of Ufa on the right bank of the Volga  Outstanding, they traveled the farthest distance from Tsaritsyn, carried the most logistical supplies, and persisted until the end, fighting to the end.

Under the firepower of the superior air force and ground forces of the Ufa Allied Forces, Yegorov's Ninth Army suffered heavy losses from the enemy and saved the main force of the army to break through and rush to the vicinity of Buzuluk, although in the end they were surrounded and captured by the superior enemy.  Defeated, but Yegorov and his troops were defeated.

The above is our answer to the first question in your urgent telegram. Now let¡¯s talk about the second question, which is that you asked us to agree to accept the conditions for peace talks and truce proposed by the Ufa coalition last time, and to abandon the territory south of Saratov, including  Lower Volga region of Tsaritsyn.

Regarding this issue, our position was clearly stated in our last telegram to the Moscow Central Committee last night, that is, the North Caucasus Military District and the Southern Front have the ability and confidence to defend the area south of Saratov  and Tsaritsyn.

There is no doubt about this. In the past few months, the defeat of Krasnov and Denikin's White Guards at Tsaritsyn, which came out from the North Caucasus Don River Basin and the Crimean Peninsula to attack us, has proved this.  a little.

?Perhaps you will emphasize that the Ufa Allied Forces on the right bank of the Volga River are enemies armed to the teeth, how vicious they are and difficult to resist and parry. We believe that any behavior that ignores the powerful combat effectiveness of the Ufa Allied Forces is irresponsible.

However, it is also irresponsible to wantonly exaggerate the enemy's strength while ignoring the combat characteristics and tenacious fighting will of our Soviet Red Army!  We believe that if we can replenish the weapons and ammunition we need in time and restore and strengthen the strength of the Southern Front in time, we will have enough confidence to defend the south of Saratov and Tsaritsyn.

Regarding this, we have full confidence!

Perhaps you will mention again that the main group armies such as the Yegorov Group Army of the Southern Front also suffered defeat or even a disastrous defeat on the Ufa Plain. This is undoubtedly true, but in the Battle of Ufa, we have discovered and looked for  It has reached the weak link in the Ufa coalition's operations.

It's just that our preparations were not sufficient and the time was too hasty. As a result, even if we discovered the enemy's weaknesses, we were not able to take advantage of and attack them for a while. However, we are convinced that Ufa  Although the coalition forces look strong, they still have many weak links that we can exploit. In the next battle with them, we are sure to win or at least draw.

Of course, it is necessary to obtain a large amount of weapons and ammunition support from Germany or other places as soon as possible.?This matter is urgent and cannot be delayed!
