After pondering for a while, Goering still shook his head, "Bruno, I have no doubt about your courage. There is no doubt that your bravery is definitely worthy of the glory of the 1st Fighter Wing, but the three Fokkers equipped by our wing  The fighters are all single-seat, single-engine day fighters.

Even if the first night fighter developed by the British was a single-engine, it was at least a two-seat fighter. Night fighters focused on endurance and firepower. It would be very difficult to visually search for air and ground targets in the night sky with just one pilot.  Thank you for your hard work, not to mention the accidents during takeoff and landing!  "

"Captain! I know what you're saying, but it's too hard for us to just wait for people to come knocking on our door. How about I just take a small team of 4 planes to go over for reconnaissance tonight? They are all the most skilled.  "Young man, if the other party doesn't find us, we will never fire. Don't the other party's reconnaissance planes often sneak into Ukraine in the middle of the night to conduct reconnaissance? I don't know what they can see in the night!" The squadron leader of the 26th Fighter Squadron is obviously a little bit.  Be anxious!

Hermann Wilhelm G?ring couldn't be beaten, he lowered his head and thought about it again, and finally nodded, "Then send a small team. Don't go through the front of Kharkov. You first go east, then north, and then from  Fly behind Belgorod in the direction of Ukraine, and the altitude should not be lower than 3,000 meters, so that the opponent can take off to intercept them. When they take off, you should be able to retreat to the border. It is a starry night tonight, and the view should be quite good!  !¡±

July 28, 1918 18:00 Allied Air Force over Belgorod

The ones performing the alert patrol mission between 18:00 and 21:00 on the night of July 28 were the DH4 2nd Squadron, 3rd Squadron, 1st Reconnaissance Bomber Group, 1st Fighter-Bomber Wing, Allied Air Force, and 4 Chinese-made DH4 two-seater aircraft.  Combat reconnaissance bombers flew in formation in the night sky, flying from northwest to southeast along the Ukrainian border at an altitude of 3,300 meters

It is a two-seat, bi-wing day bomber designed by the British during the European War.  The designer was Geoffrey de Havilland, a 34-year-old British man at the time. This was the first British light bomber. In fact, due to the excellent performance of this aircraft, it may have been born during the European War.  The world's first multi-purpose all-weather combat aircraft, the DH4 first flew in August 1916 and entered service with the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) in March 1917.

In Wang Geng¡¯s previous life, only 1,449 dh4s were produced in the UK, but as many as 4,846 were produced in the United States. Throughout World War I, it was considered a very excellent and highly productive aircraft.

We tried many engines in different models of dh.4, and finally used the best Rolls-Royce Eagle III engine, 375?hp (280?kw).

The British-origin DH4 includes a 0.303 (7.7 mm) Vickers machine gun in the nose controlled by the pilot, and a 0.303 (7.7 mm) Lewis gun controlled by the rear seat gunner navigator.  On the DH4 equipped by the Chinese Air Force of the Allied Forces on the Eastern Front, these two machine guns were replaced by the Browning 12.7mm large-caliber machine gun and the Browning 7.62mm air-cooled heavy machine gun.

In addition to two machine guns for air combat and ground attack, the dh4 can also carry two 230-pound (100 kilograms) bombs or four 112-pound (51 kilograms) bombs.  dh.4 was officially incorporated into the 55th Squadron of the Royal Air Force on March 6, 1917 and participated in the war in France.

As an aircraft originally designed as a light bomber, the dh4 has a flight life of up to 3 hours and 45 minutes, a maximum range of 770 kilometers, and a combat radius of more than 360 kilometers. So in fact, as soon as this two-seat light bomber came out, it  Naturally, it has become a multi-purpose all-weather fighter with its excellent performance. Although the size is larger than that of ordinary single-seat fighter jets, turning and somersaulting are not the dh4's strengths.

But because the engine power of the dh4 is quite strong, not only its maximum level flight speed and range far exceed that of the German Fokker or Albatross fighter jets, it also?In terms of climbing speed alone, it is not much worse than the Fokker aircraft. The climb speed of the DH4 is 1,000ftmin (305mmin), while the Fokker Dviii monoplane fighter takes about 3 minutes to climb to an altitude of 1,000 meters, and the Fokker aircraft climbs  The time to reach an altitude of 3,000 meters is even longer than that of dh4.
